That's the only movie that I can think of that covers a botched abortion also. I can't see why it's surprising that pregencies are used to advance a plot line or cover an actors pregency in real life. If the movie/tv show centers around the women having a baby, she'll have it. If an abortion is necessary for the plot, she'll have an abortion.
