And in the same election, gay rights were overturned, an anti-illegal immigrant referendum passed, and the Republicans gained in the state legislature. And Joe Arpaio won in a landslide - again.

The only Democratic gain was picking up Rick Renzi's House seat, and he was under indictment.

This state is sadly a lot redder than anyone wants to admit - at least in Maricopa County. This isn't some shadowy Republican plan to steal the elections, they don't need to out here. It's racism and xenophobia pure and simple.
