Prestigious NGO Praises Cuba’s Medical Care of Children
HAVANA, Cuba, Sept 7 (acn) Cuba’s medical system for children is the best in Latin America and one of the best in the world, according to a report by the prestigious NGO Save the Children.
The report, published on Tuesday, notes that Cuban children have less chances to die from any disease than others in European developed capitalist nations such as Germany, Russia, France and the United Kingdom, and even in the United States.
The study is based on three main aspects: the number of physicians, nurses and other health specialists per every one thousand inhabitants; the number of children vaccinated against diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough; and the proportion of women who give birth in the presence of an obstetrician.
The NGO’s report adds that Cuba’s health system is far better than that of many Latin American countries such as Uruguay, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Panama, El Salvador and Costa Rica, just to mention a few.
