7. Typical GOP smarm-ette.
Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of Sara “Sally” Bradshaw to the Florida State Board of Education.
Bradshaw, 46, of Havana, is a self-employed consultant. She previously served as an advisor to Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour and his political action committee in 2011, advisor to the Republican Party of Florida in 2010 and advisor to Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign from 2007 to 2008.
From 2003 to 2004, Bradshaw was a member of the Florida State Board of Education. She previously chaired the school board of trustees at Holy Comforter Episcopal School and was a board member of Faith Presbyterian preschool.
Earlier in her career, Bradshaw served as chief of staff to Florida Governor Jeb Bush from 1999 to 2001 and served as senior campaign advisor to the Bush-Brogan 2002 re-election campaign. She also managed Governor Bush’s gubernatorial bid in both the 1998 and 1994 election cycles. Prior to residing in Florida, Bradshaw served President George H.W. Bush from 1989 to1991 as an associate director of political affairs and regional field coordinator for the Bush for President Campaign in 1988.
Bradshaw earned her bachelor’s degree from George Washington University. She succeeds Mark Kaplan and is appointed for a term beginning September 6, 2011, and ending December 31, 2013.
The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
