...then those people are going to feel like their point of view has been somewhat invalidated. Its hard for someone to admit that their way isn't the ONLY way forward if that person happens to be an overzealous ideolog, left or right. The reflexive need to minimize any perceived improvements in the economic situation are just a reflection of that.
