t's dangerous to read anything too profound into scattered off-year election results across the nation or in Connecticut, for that matter.

In this state, results showed Democrats doing what they do here dominating. For the most part they held onto long-held mayoral seats (Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport, etc.) and, impressively, electing mayors in places such as New Britain and Middletown where they'd been on the outside.

But it would be a mistake to regard Tuesday's voting as a referendum on Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's overall performance or on the quality of the response to the massive power failure caused by the Oct. 29 snowstorm.,0,6555935.story
