t's dangerous to read anything too profound into scattered off-year election results across the nation — or in Connecticut, for that matter.
In this state, results showed Democrats doing what they do here — dominating. For the most part they held onto long-held mayoral seats (Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport, etc.) and, impressively, electing mayors in places such as New Britain and Middletown where they'd been on the outside.
But it would be a mistake to regard Tuesday's voting as a referendum on Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's overall performance or on the quality of the response to the massive power failure caused by the Oct. 29 snowstorm.
