Daily U.S. Casualties 9/6/2003
As of Friday, 287 U.S. soldiers have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq, according to the Department of Defense.
The British military has reported 49 deaths. Denmark's military has reported one death.
On or since May 1, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 149 U.S. soldiers have died in Iraq, according to the latest Defense Department figures.
The latest reported deaths:
A civilian contractor affiliated with oilfield services giant Halliburton was shot and killed Wednesday in Iraq, the U.S. military confirmed.
A British bomb disposal expert was killed Thursday when gunmen attacked his vehicle in northern Iraq, British officials said Friday. Ian Rimell worked for the British-based charity Mines Advisory Group. There were no new identifications reported by the U.S. military on Friday.
