New Zogby...Bush approval just 45% ...reelect 40%...GREAT NEWS!!!
Check it out! Nothing but bad news for the Thief in Chief!
-----------

President George W. Bush’s job performance ratings have reached the lowest point since his pre-Inauguration days, continuing a steady decline since a post-9/11 peak, according to a new Zogby America poll of 1,013 likely voters conducted September 3-5.

Less than half (45%) of the respondents said they rated his job performance good or excellent, while a majority (54%) said it was fair or poor. In August Zogby International polling, his rating was 52% positive, 48% negative. Today’s results mark the first time a majority of likely voters have given the president an unfavorable job performance rating since he took office.

A majority (52%) said it’s time for someone new in the White House, while just two in five (40%) said the president deserves to be re-elected. Last month, 45% said re-election was in order, and 48% said it was time for someone new.

1. And this is with MAXIMUM propping-up
Zogby probably had to run six different "random" samples to come up with even these pathetic results.

Mr. Rove's not gonna like this.

15. Zogby is a registered Democrat
Why would he run six samples? He's an honest man.

I just read this yesterday, and wonder what the connection is between John and James Zogby.

34. I can explain it to you
John Zogby is the head of Zogby Polling, I believe. James Zogby is the head of the Arab American Institute.

2. Wow!
I'm eager to see the various other polls. I'm waiting for the majority of them to show approval and reelect both below 50%.

If and when that happens, will the press continue to refer to him as popular and unbeatable? Will the continue to sneer at or dismiss the Democratic candidates? For a while, I suppose, but at some point they'll have to give that up.

22. MSRNC reffered to him as popular today.
I almost shot the TV. CLinton had a 67% approval rating at the height of impeachment, and not once did I hear the right wing media refer to Clinton as popular.

3. This is GREAT, but
who thinks Bush and Rove will stand still while their support plummets?
If you look at raw poll data, Bush spikes across the board after a war. This poll is bad news for countries like Syria and Iran. I hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't put it past them.

In the meantime, WOO HOO for a poll that shows only 2 in 5 would vote to re-select Bush!

IMO we will be at war for a very long time. Folks who wish to avoid the draft should start seeking treatment for chronic illnesses now To avoid suspicion.

Feeling blue, how about some Prozac? That cough getting worse, you definitely need to get that asthma medicated before you end up in the ER. The beauty is that you can flush these meds until about a month before your physical.

20. I don't think it will work.
We're not seeing any yellow or orange alert dealies anymore, because the public started to feel they were being used. After Bush launched the war with iraq, he recieved a bounce. It wasn't that big, maybe 10 points. After Uday and Qusay died, another bounce. Even smaller, 5 points. If he tries something now, I don't think it will work, and it might even work against him.

Given enough time and dead lemmings strewn all about the Bush precipice even the most dedicated wingnut will get a self-survival clue (or two).

considering that when the fu@ker loses in '04 we are still left with the duanting task of figuring out what to do with Iraq and undoing the damage that the chimp has done to us in less than three years.

We're going to be licking our wounds for a long time to come.

18. And we have no one to thank but ourselves
Drip drip drip--It seems like a decade ago when I first read that phrase here. But now there's been enough drips to form a quagmire too deep and too dirty for the Pretzel-Dunce to get out of with just a speech or a photo op. Between the UN not knuckling under in the wake of the bombing and the PR failure of his Labor Day speech, he realizes that he's at a critical turning point. Even if he was to announced they found WMD on Sunday, he'd still have to convince they were deployable to the U.S. within 45 minutes?

29. Whatever shrub tries to do to bring his polling numbers up
whether it's starting a war, making the tax cuts "permanent", or whatever, is going to have very, very little effect on his approval rating. The public has been wiseing up, and they continue to do so. I really think he's on a one-way trip to the cellar. Except for a strong economic recovery that INCLUDES JOBS (and this is NOT going to happen), there's just absolutely no way out of this hole.

44. Before celebrating too much take a look at Pollkatz
The pollkatz graphs of all polls show that Zogby is sort of an outlier,,,consistently showing worse numbers for Bush than the other polls.

The general trend is downward, but the "consensus" is that Bushes unfavorables may not be as low as Zogby indicates

47. The same Zogby poll shows Dean leads 16% among candidates
Edited on Sun Sep-07-03 11:12 AM by Woodstock
From the 9/6 release:

http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=732

In the same poll, likely Democratic primary voters give a plurality of their support to former Vermont Governor Dr. Howard Dean (16%), whose campaign has been gathering support in recent polling. He is followed by Massachusetts Senator John Kerry (13%), Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman (12%), and Missouri Congressman Richard Gephardt (8%). No other candidate polled more than 3%.
