Kimberly-Clark Outsources Accounting Positions To India's Genpact
January 08, 2007 (3:00 PM EST)

Pulp and paper company Kimberly-Clark is outsourcing a number of finance and accounting operations to Genpact, an India-based service provider formerly owned by GE.

Under the deal, financial terms of which weren't disclosed, Genpact will handle "non-core" finance and accounting functions for Kimberly-Clark, according to a statement issued Monday by Genpact. The move is part of a major cost reduction initiative that the papermaker outlined in 2005.

Through the deal, Kimberly-Clark will realize "substantial bottom line savings," said Genpact CEO Pramod Bhasin, in a statement. A spokesman for Genpact said he was unable to say how many jobs would move from Kimberly-Clark, which has operations throughout the U.S., to Genpact.

Genpact, formerly GECIS, was spun off from GE in November 2004. Since then, the company has more than doubled its staff size -- which now stands at about 26,000 workers. Finance and accounting is Genpact's largest practice area, with about 5,700 staffers in the field.

2. Not good enough
Isn't it time for the REAL cost cutting measure?

Let's outsource MANAGEMENT to India. I'm sure their CEOs would work for a fraction of the cost of a mediocre American CEO.

5. Kimberly-Clark plans to cut IT workforce
January 19, 2007 (Computerworld) -- Paper products maker Kimberly-Clark Corp. is shifting some of its IT operations to two major outsourcers with India operations and is planning an undisclosed number of IT workforce reductions, the company said this week.

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp. in Teaneck, N.J., which conducts a major part of its work in India, will do application development, including work on SAP and customized applications for Kimberly-Clark.

In a separate announcement, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (TCS) in Mumbai, India, will provide technology infrastructure support at Kimberly-Clark, including help desk, data center operational support, computer security, data network, voice, messaging and videoconferencing.

Kimberly-Clark spokesman Dave Dickson said the outsourcing agreements will result in IT workforce reductions, but the company isn't ready to disclose the number of layoffs.

11. I understand that.
And y'know, the sooner they start outsourcing some of the middle managers and upper middle managers instead of the blue-collar worker, the sooner things will change. No one really stood up when manufacturing was gutted; maybe it'll happen when the accountants and marketing professionals and lawyers and so on are.

12. I generally don't support companies that...
Dump mercury into Washington rivers:
One Kimberly-Clark plant in Washington emitted 26 pounds of mercury into state waterways in the year 2000 alone"

Practice sourcing from endangered forests:
Greenpeace has published the findings of its investigation into Kimberly-Clark’s claims of protecting forests and sustainable forestry. “Chain of Lies: The Truth About Kimberly-Clark’s Use of Ancient Rainforests for Tissue Products” reveals the company’s continuous use of pulp and fiber from the coastal temperate rainforests of British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest.

Deforestation:
Kimberly Clark has been criticized for using more than 2.5 million tons of virgin tree fiber annually to make its tissue products. The company incorporates less than 19% recycled fiber against an industry average of 60%.

No on HR4437 -- Boycott Kimberly Clark products

Boycott Kimberly Clark products Sensenbrenner: author of HR4437 and heir to the Kimberly Clark (Kleenex) fortune .

Subject: Boycott Kimberly Clark products - Please forward

FYI: HR4437 author Sensenbrenner is heir to Kimberly Clark products

Sensenbrenner: author of HR4437 and heir to the Kimberly Clark (Kleenex)
fortune . . .

Join Third World Majority and others in this boycott in support of
immigrant rights! Business accounts are where Kimberly Clark will feel
it the most, so be sure to talk to the janitorial services at your
school, office building, and gym too!

One person that will not be getting Hispanic votes in Wisconsin is
Rep. James Sensenbrenner. The entire planet knows Sensenbrenner is
the author/sponsor of HR 4437 which would turn 11 million
undocumented immigrants into felons, punish anyone guilty of providing
them assistance, and construct an iron wall between the US and Mexico.

What most Latinos do not know is Rep. James Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin
is heir to the family fortune of Kimberly Clark.

All Latinos who purchase some of world's most recognized brands -
Kleenex, Scott, Huggies, Pull-Ups, Kotex and Depend are putting money
in Sensenbrenner's bank account.
(snip/...)
