Chicago's Daley: 'No problem' with gay marriage licenses
<snip>

CHICAGO (AP) — Mayor Richard Daley said he would have "no problem" with Cook County issuing marriage licenses to gay couples in Chicago, the nation's third largest city.

Entering a national debate over gay marriage, Daley urged sympathy for same-sex couples because "they love each other just as much as anyone else."

Daley also dismissed a suggestion Wednesday that marriage between gay couples would undermine the institution.

"Marriage has been undermined by divorce, so don't tell me about marriage," he said. "Don't blame the gay and lesbian, transgender and transsexual community."

1. I got a lot of issues with Daley, but things like this make me forget them
and stand up and applaud loudly for him.

glad to hear Daley STANDING UP for civil rights....

it would be good to have a few more DEMOCRATIC mayors do the same thing...let bush* choke on his own pretzel.....

there goes another MAJOR bush* re-selection campaign issue....man on mars...steroids...Kerry adultery...Jane Fonda with Kerry....AWOL war president.....how many more MAJOR issues does bush* have left?....

bush* has NOTHING to start his campaign on...the Mayberry Machevallians cannot even come up with a 'little bitty' issue to begin....

Daley, a much bigger man than the shrub, said ".....because "they love each other just as much as anyone else."

dropping the BIG bomb on bigot bush*

:nuke: :nuke: :nuke:

4. Heard him on ABC news this AM
saying this. It was the best thing I've heard on this issue since this started. He put it in very human terms, in a way that most people can relate to.
