Limbaugh: Prosecutors Seek Doctor Record

2 hours, 56 minutes ago

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Rush Limbaugh says prosecutors have subpoenaed records from his doctors as part of the investigation into the conservative radio commentator's prescription drug use.

Prosecutors are trying to determine whether Limbaugh visited several doctors to illegally receive duplicate prescriptions of controlled narcotics. Limbaugh sought treatment for his admitted addiction to painkillers in October and has not been charged with a crime.

On his radio show Friday, Limbaugh said Palm Beach County prosecutors sent subpoenas to the offices of four of his doctors, "demanding a list of every employee at every doctor's office I visited, from March to September of 2003," according to a transcript of the program on his Web site.

"They're already figuring they're going to win the opportunity to see my medical records, and once they see them, they want a list of names at these doctors' offices that they can re-subpoena and bring in for interviews," Limbaugh said.

Also Friday, the state's 4th District Court of Appeal in West Palm Beach gave prosecutors 15 days to respond to Limbaugh's appeal of a Palm Beach County judge's order allowing them to review his medical records, which remain sealed.

Krischer's office began investigating more than a year ago after Limbaugh's former maid told them she sold Limbaugh "large quantities of hydrocodone, Oxycontin and other pharmaceutical drugs" for years. She gave investigators e-mails and answering machine recordings to support her claims.

1. You Reap What You Sow
Limbaugh has been attacking, distorting, bullying and gloating for years.

I just can't find much sympathy for his current plight and I hope he is prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Isn't that what he would want?

4. i like how rush himself is reduced to announcing play-by-play analysis
of how the courtroom drama will unfold. of course, he has to do this, or else he'd rattle apart at the seams thinking about his fate. he has to calm his listeners and himself by repeating the mantra again and again, "i'm different from other people, and even though i'm guilty of serious crimes, because i admitted it on the air and was responsible enough to go through a 30-day treatment plan and check in with a doctor every few days, and i'm white and rich and famous, i deserve to be let off the hook. and even though they're going to use every legal method to try to pin me down and point out my guilt, i'll keep you guys apprised of the mechanisms mr. black and i are using to manipulate the system in our favor and evade justice. wish us luck and pray for us, because someday you might be rich and famous too, and you're certainly white if you listen to me, and you could be in this very same situation... accused like a black drug addict, and potentially could fall victim to what i am facing now. but don't worry, folks, i'm white and rich and famous and i'm staying that way, and no matter what, i'll never ever ever admit guilt, because i was not responsible for my actions when i was under the influence of those demon prescription drugs that i fully hold my doctors accountable to for getting me hooked. oh, and by the way, i was never high on the air, or during any of the times i composed my vicious junkie rants about hitlery clinton or feminazis or any other attacks on Democrats, blacks, poor people, and anyone else i hate like you do. i mean to say, i was never TERRIBLY high."

6. Isn't Rush claiming a vast left-wing conspiracy?
Last month, Rush and his lawyers claimed that the prosecutor, who's a Democrat, is pursuing Rush for political reasons.

8. What ever happened to those money-laundering charges?
that story appears to have completely been dropped from news.

Authorities say they became aware two years ago, during an investigation of New York bank US Trust, that Limbaugh had taken between 30 and 40 cash withdrawals from his account in amounts just under $10,000.

Banks must file a report to the government if someone withdraws more than $10,000 at once.

Limbaugh's lawyers confirm that as part of US Trust's service, a bank employee personally delivered cash to Limbaugh at his New York studio in amounts of $9,900 or so.

"That in itself is a suspicious activity: They are structuring their transaction to avoid reporting to the government, and the bank is required to file with the federal government something called a suspicious activity report," said Jack Blum, an expert on financial crimes.

Limbaugh's lawyers say it was US Trust that suggested the arrangement. In July 2001 the bank paid a $10 million fine because of the Limbaugh transactions and many others like it.

10. BFD. Asscroft wants the medical records of women who had third
trimester abortions. That procedure was legal. Doctor shopping for drugs isn't. So, where's the problem? Sign a waiver to hand over the records, Rush.
