Attorney General Six says Kansas will not challenge federal health care legislation

Topeka — Kansas’ Democratic attorney general says he won’t join legal challenges by other states to the new federal health care law.

Attorney General Steve Six said Friday that his office’s review of the law found no constitutional defects.

Six says it wouldn’t be legally or fiscally responsible to pursue litigation against the federal government.

The attorneys general of 13 states are challenging the health care overhaul, and Virginia has filed its own lawsuit.

6. Is there any reason to have states?

We tried to legalize medical marijuana, the Feds said we couldn't. Now the Feds say we must purchase coverage from a private company for medical coverage? Around here many Democrats were against even the state mandating car insurance. As far as I can tell the states have very few rights, and what rights were constitutionally left to the people has been cut down to just about zero.

Didn't see you here complaining then? Specifically, I'm talking about our right to privacy and his illegal wire tapping program. And now you're going to cry about insurance being mandated? A mandate with no penalty is not a mandate. That's right you're whinging about a non issue because there is no penalty what-so-ever if you don't purchase insurance. AND, if you can't afford insurance, you're allowed huge subsidies (meaning the government will pay your premiums).

I don't know what's wrong with you people, believing in all the fear mongering done by republicans, but I can assure your world will not come crashing down with this insurance reform. Why do you love corporate America more than you love your fellow neighbor? Why would you deny them coverage if they want and need insurance? Don't you know anyone that will be better off with this new law? What a bout the baby that was born with a pre-existing condition? What has he done wrong? Should he be required to pull himself up by his bootstraps? Should he just be left to die? I thought all you people were right to lifers? Or is that just before they're born and after that they can all die and go to hell? And I'll bet you even call your self Christian. Who would Jesus let die?

9. A.G. in AZ said the same thing. Gov went to the wingnut

legislature and got the O.k. to go ahead with the suit using private counsel. This in a state that canceled its children's healthcare program for lack of funds

12. My gov. told the AG if he wanted to pursue it he'd have to privately hire his own lawyer

AG Cox had the suit filed, but Gov. Granholm stopped him dead in his tracks.

Cox is trying to run for Gov this year.
