Tucson attack motivation for Berkley’s town hall event
Source: Las Vegas Sun

The first person showed up Friday more than an hour before Rep. Shelley Berkley was scheduled to open the doors to her Las Vegas office. It was 7:45 a.m.

By 8:45 a.m., three dozen of the Democratic congresswoman’s constituents filled the lobby.

When she finally emerged at 9:20 a.m. to greet the crowd, it was standing room only — moms with babies, fathers and daughters and senior citizens.

Some came to complain about unemployment. Others asked for help with Social Security. A good number said they attended Friday’s “Congress on Your Corner” for the same reasons Berkley planned it: to honor Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and prove to themselves and others that a working democracy will continue despite the actions of one crazed man.

1. Great article. We should not be afraid to conduct democracy.

2. Up here in the arrowhead region of MN we got Craavack in the
election. There will be no congress on the corner with him. Wish we could do one of our own but it would not be the same.

3. Yeah. Not only that, but you lost OBERSTAR.
Dang, y'all really were on the bad karma train in first class, weren'tcha?

Sucks to be you. Seriously.

I'm still having a hard time internalizing this reality.

What were they thinking?

regretfully,
Bright

5. I think a lot of it had to do with Oberstar not fighting back. There was
an article in my daughters Union letter that said only ran because when he wanted to talk with the representative he was not in his office. Got angry and filed. To top that off I don't think most of the area knew that craavack has been unemployed and double dipping in a couple of disability pensions for sleep apnea and also collecting unemployment at the same time.

I was furious when he was in our holiday parade and in his vehicles was a older military truck still with US Army license plates and bearing Craavack signs. If that truck was really military it had no business in that parade and if it was not the plates needed to be removed.

We are all hoping that Oberstar tries again. Because without him we are screwed. He knew how to represent our area. If we are lucky Craavack will sleep through the whole session.

6. A number of such events today
Held in Chattanooga, Minnesota, Georgia, Nevada, and elsewhere. It's Democrats going out to meet with their constituents in quiet defiance of the the events last week.
