Peter Jennings - What a Funny Guy!

I assume most of us are aware - if we weren't watching it live - when ABC's Peter Jennings scolded Gen. Wesley Clark, in the New Hampshire debate 3 weeks ago, for refusing to disavow the words of his campaign representative Michael Moore who claimed GWB was a deserter.

The exchange, as I recall it, went something along the lines of:

Jennings - "will you disavow this baseless assertion?"
Clark - "well I don't know if he was a deserter."
Jennings - "the facts say otherwise."
Clark - "well I haven't seen the facts."

Tonight on ABC WTT, Jennings was getting his knickers in a twist when Terry Moran had the stack of new info released by the White House.

Jennings - "damn, it's Friday night. What's it say, huh? Huh?"
Moran - "can't see anything new here."

Jennings' credibility as a broadcaster is on the line and he knows it.

and jennings's crack was that the white house announcement was coming on a friday afternoon -- i thought he sounded like one of us, questioning the timing ....

Peter Jennings may not be all we want, but he's definitely better than Rather or, GodHelpUs, Brokaw. Jennings' ABC show edges closer to the reality of a non-Ahmed 'N' Roses Iraq. If he hadn't tossed Bush's AWOL status out on the table, it's debatable whether it would be a media storm now. And I saw the Jennings/Moran exchange tonight. J. made a point that the Bush White House released material late on Friday when it wanted the stuff to escape media scrutiny. He also stressed that the pile of documents really added nothing to Bush's attemp at credibility.

media so I know he's an ass however we kinda owe him.
