Scary: If Rove has $300M to work with, he can buy
a lot of reporters and producers in broadcast media and print.
Many (most?) would be free of charge (e.g., Fox) so he wouldn't need as much. He spends it this way:
$300,000,000.00 4150 people, $72,289 each perso
Cox News Service reporters 200 $14,457,831
Reuters reporters 200 $14,457,831
AP reporters 200 $14,457,831
NYT reporters 200 $14,457,831
Chi Trib reporters 100 $7,228,916
200 Newspapers reporters 800 $57,831,325
200 TV channels Producers 800 $57,831,325
NBC Producers 10 $722,892
ABC Producers 10 $722,892
CBS Producers 10 $722,892
CNBC Producers 10 $722,892
MSNBC Producers 10 $722,892
Fox (No Charge) $0
500 radio stations Producers 1600 $115,662,651

Scary?

1. This Is The Reason Bush Cannot Loose When Combined With BBV!
Let's not get our hopes too high; 300 million will buy enough propaganda to make even some DUers believe that Bush is the second coming.

Of course, not willingly!

10. "Cannot lose"?
you have us defeated before the fight begins.
Are you saying we should all pack up and go
home, maybe change our voting status to republican
so when Ashcroft gets the lists we won't be
eliminated? Then maybe we should all become
born again Christians of AWOL's denomination
and stomp out homosexuality and birth control.
After that we can give what power is left of
the people to corporate America and immediately
agree to the minimum wage being systematically
lowered each year until it's $1.25 an hour and
whole families will work 14 hour days without
any overtime. Health care will become a privilege
of the rich and the rest of us will go back to
old folk medicine and prayer.

Cannot lose? They have to lose or life is going
to become unbearable for 95% of Americans. Please
try to find a little more fight in this campaign.
Money is not everything....

13. The Law of dimishing returns.
I think that it will have to buy dirty tricks, as the American
voter is not likely to forget that Rove is a lying SOB, no matter how many ads he runs.

That said, it can buy a fair number of dirty tricks.

I agree, but if Dean can raise so many millions
over the internet then so can Kerry....lets hope
that the little people will contribute in great
numbers and finally get heard.

2. Rove probably has $100,000,000 right now.
Remember, they've already spent a lot of the money they raised. When * goes to a fundraiser (which he has seemed to do every other day), the campaign pays part of the cost. Dems will have money.

6. money will work to the repubs advantage
One disadvantage that the Democrat nominee will have is that he is having to burn up money throughout the primaries, while Bush will have little need to spend at all until November draws near.

25. * outspent Gore 2 to 1 in 2000 and he still got 500,000 less votes.
* has to spend his money before the convention because after it, they are both publically funded. The money he has now is for the primary (which he doesn't actually have to run in.) He's also going to be attacked by all those independent organizations (like the Sierra Club or MoveOn) who've been amassing funds for the fight.

Given his record, he's going to need a LOT more than 200 million dollars.

3. Exact reason to report on your own, fliers, posters, e-mails,
bumper stickers, t-shirts, and just your pure rage at the Bush destruction of these United States. The media's attempt to drive anger as a Dem flaw, only aided in our unifcation against the Chimp and the plum bob drop in his polls. Anger is good, when applied with a sober head.

11. And it's not just Dems...we need to fire up the entire country....
We need the time and resources of good people EVERYWHERE that want to see this nefarious bunch of numbskulls sent packing. This country, this democracy is in sad shape. We are the closest we've ever been to becoming a totalitarian and fascist state. Our country and way of life took a seriously wrong turn in 1980 ("Morning in America"). What a load of el toro poopoo.

BULLETIN: When someone is wagging their finger in your face questioning your patriotism, they are usually picking your pocket with the other hand.

MEMO: When ever you hear anyone intimating they've got a "lock on the Lord," run like hell. You are in the midst of the WORST kind of evil and deception.

7. I would agree, except for one thing...
...it is a one shot deal...can Rove be sure that when a news producer is bought, they stay bought? And If I was a FOX producer, I'd be pissed off royally that I wasn't getting a piece of the action.

12. A whole bunch of left wingers
300 million dollars will bribe excuse me influence a whole bunch of left wingers. Nader will not get any Republican funding this year like he did in 2000 because Bush is already the unofficial winner in 2004, and any swing voters for 2004 will have no impact in 2004 for Bush

And if some don't think that the liberal left can't be bribed excuse me influenced around the country just look at the first Liberal Party of New York, it was so corrupt it actually was bribed by Giuliani. See the Voice article in NYC about the Party of liberalism that voted JFK into office and how it was bribed excuse me influenced by the Republicans.

http://www.villagevoice.com/issues/0246/robbins.php

By the time the Liberal Party finally bit the dust in last week's electoral drubbing, it had few friends and allies left to bemoan its demise.

Those are the guys this hurts the worst, conservatives like Giuliani who want to try and look moderate," said political consultant Richard Schrader. "The Liberal Party offered camouflage. There wasn't anything there except the name, but it worked."

14. Turd Blossom Rove will have as much money to spend as he wants.
Whether it is $300 or $400 or $500 million or more, it will be available. But money will not decide this election. A lack of money makes a much bigger difference than an unlimited amount of money. The democratic nominee will have enough to compete.

Nearly every election involving an incumbent is nothing more than a referendum on the incumbent. Bush has problems with the economy, Iraq and his incessant and compulsive lying. If those problems are still present in November, Bush will lose. If not he may win.

17. Yes, And A Big Part Of That 300 Million Will Be Spent Convincing People
that Bush's problems are not really problems at all.

You know the drill: down is up, bad is good, red is black, etc.

trying to explain a previous lie. I think this is catching up to him finally.

24. Hmmmm..
300 million is not enough to convince the
unemployed, the underemployed, the underpaid,
overworked, and the fear filled public that
those problems do not exist.

The AWOL regime cannot fix this one huge problem....

"JOBS"

A man (or a woman) will fight, rebel, resist, attack,
any situation or person that threatens their ability
to make a living for their family. If one cannot feed
their children....they become dangerously focused on
that one problem.

He is pouring a lot of money into our side. We are far from broke. In fact, with Soros's help, we could probably outbid them.
