Who is Chalabi? Does he have blood on his hands? Is he Machiavelli?
I seem to remember hearing blips about him being a criminal (which the media never seemed to follow up on - big surprise). I also remember seeing an episode of Frontline where, when asked if he felt bad about there being no WMD found in Iraq when he pushed so hard for the war, he said simply "no".

What's he deal with this guy?

2. He's shady
I think he is only in it for the power he hopes to acquire. I find him untrustworthy and unconcerned for the people of Iraq. JMO.

4. He is a war profiteer and hungers for power in Iraq
He even brought his own private militia when the Americans came in.

Start-up Company With Connections
U.S. gives $400M in work to contractor with ties to Pentagon favorite on Iraqi Governing Council

Washington - U.S. authorities in Iraq have awarded more than $400 million in contracts to a start-up company that has extensive family and, according to court documents, business ties to Ahmed Chalabi, the Pentagon favorite on the Iraqi Governing Council.

The most recent contract, for $327 million to supply equipment for the Iraqi Armed Forces, was awarded last month and drew an immediate challenge from a losing contester, who said the winning bid was so low that it questions the "credibility" of that bid.

But it is an $80-million contract, awarded by the Coalition Provisional Authority last summer to provide security for Iraq's vital oil infrastructure, that has become a controversial lightning rod within the Iraqi Provisional Government and the security industry.

Soon after this security contract was issued, the company started recruiting many of its guards from the ranks of Chalabi's former militia, the Iraqi Free Forces, raising allegations from other Iraqi officials that he was creating a private army.

Chalabi, 59, scion of one of Iraq's most politically powerful and wealthy families until the monarchy was toppled in 1958, had been living in exile in London when the U.S. invaded Iraq. The chief architect of the umbrella organization for the resistance, the Iraqi National Congress, Chalabi is viewed by many Iraqis as America's hand-picked choice to rule Iraq.

8. The "low" bid
They don't have any problem lowballing the bid, because they know that after getting the Pork from Uncle Sam (and his hapless taxpayers) they can come back with hand out whining about unanticipated cost overruns.

They know BushCo will grease the skids.

5. It was a symbiotic relationship
the neo con cabal wanted to invade, and he told them what they wanted to hear to justify it. He promised that he would be welcomed by the masses, he juiced up stories of WMD.

and the neo con cabal used him.... Letting him go on record to justify their war, really unconcerned with his goals after their war was green lighted.

7. He is wanted in Jordan.
He was convicted of bank fraud. He escaped in a car trunk. It was $25 million. He fits right in with the Bush crime family. He left Iraq decades ago. When asked about the current situation,he said "Hey I am in Baghdad" You dumbass fools. Expect nothing good from this crook.

10. There were a couple of people on The News Hour a couple of nights
ago concerned with his willingness to give up power in Iraq when the "elections" take place, if they ever do.

They were concerned with the entire governing council. They have grave doubts that once having control, they will not give it up. Sorry, I cannot remember their names. I was watching in the midst of cooking dinner. You know how that can be! :)

11. He is Lon Nol with a pure sense of
political patronage...the conquest of Iraq has already enriched companies he controls or does business with by 400 million.
When the time comes, that exquisite sense of timing will send him off to a comfortable exile in Paris (that Exile Valhalla) briefcases bulging with bullion a mere dancing step ahead of the soldiers or the mullahs.
His regency council won't last 18 months without our troops...but I doubt he'll end up shot like Diem or Allende Chalabi is too slippery for that.
