1. An interesting point there. |
|
What with modern medical technology and Mr. Reagan's level of medical insurance, if he is dead then a decision was made to pull the plug.

2. There is no doubt in my mind about the decision being made |
|
and I commend Nancy for doing it when she felt it was the right time.

3. The timing would seem wrong for it to be a political decision. |
|
So I tend to agree, much as I dislike both of them. Maybe she decided to do it when he'd still get the full Hollywood sendoff.

4. I'm getting to where I question everything, even a death. |
|
What did they sneak under the radar? What is the hidden agenda here? What's next?
Phew. It'll make a person nuts.

But my experience is that what actually happens is wierder than anything you could just make up. In the case of the current crop it's important to remember that they are STUPID. Complicated strategies do not fit.

9. Thanks for saying that |

My emotions and thoughts have been carried on the wind since hearing this. You have succinctly pointed out logic.

6. Of course I know a gentleman who died a month or so ago |
|
who had Alzheimers... had access to medical technology and insurance... oh my goodness accordingly someone must have pulled the plug on him as well!
Sad when logic goes awry.

10. Not logic, just a reasonable supposition. |
|
Logic has much more stringent requirements. The "pull the plug" part is a figure of speech, there is no need to take it literally, you may be sure that somewhere in there a decision was made not to take "heroic measures". Nevertheless it is possible that they fought valiantly to keep him alive a bit longer and just failed. I've known a few too.

11. but for some that is human nature |
|
not an act of politics. Many folks try to prolong the life of a lovedone even if they are in a nonfunctional (without mechanical assistance) state.
honestly given the tongue lashing several members of teh Reagan family (including Nancy) have given to the bushteam in the past year or so... I don't think that they would be prolonging their own pain in order to help jr politically. Now trying to get him to last as long as possible.. because thats how some folks react to these situations? Very possible.
Look I see things often a calculations - but some defy too many points of logic. They may be fun to ruminate on - but they don't fit the framework (of existing information/facts.)

5. anyone who is inactive is likely to die of pneumonia if untreated |
|
the plug wasn't literally pulled, my guess is they decided not to treat the pneumonia with antibiotics. To some there is a big difference.

what was the change in activity over the past 10 years? I would venture, nothing.
If pneumonia was allowed, then it was a timely decision. I'm not getting a difference?
