There was a pilot who was shot down behind enemy lines, and he survived on things like berries, and such. I *think* it was an Irish sounding name, like O'Brian, or Ryan, or something like that. He was lost for four or five days, when he was finally rescued, in the meantime evading would-be captors for the time he was on the ground.
I'm sure this sounds like a common event, but I remember there was a lot of hype about this particular incident. I'm just curious because I'm wondering if this guy has made the news since his own 15 minutes of fame.
On edit: I found out! It was Bosnia, and the pilot was Scott O'Grady. At least I had an idea of who I was talking about. Evidently the movie "Behind Enemy Lines" was based on his story, and a book has also been published.
