My apology to some DUer's...

In the past I have dismissed some DUer's as overreacting when they have refered to Bush as evil or when they have been so adamant in their opposition to Bush and his junta. I want to issue an apology to those DUer's who I have dismissed in the past.

I saw Fahrenheit 9-11 last night, and while it confirmed much of what I knew already, the images of death and destruction that Bush has brought to the world woke me up so to speak. I now fully appreciate the repugnant wickedness of the Bush administration and his corrupt band of criminals (including the Saudis).

It's clear to me now that they ARE the enemy. Bush is correct when he says this is a struggle between good and evil. We liberals hold the moral high ground in this epic struggle. Bush, the Saudis, and the evil men who have calculated this chain of events represent the evil present in the world today. The Bushes have hijacked the American government and have abused its power beyond forgiveness. They have committed murder.

I choose not to blame the brave men and women who are forced to risk their lives in this war. Bush has abused their importance and sacrifice. He has disgraced every single soldier. I choose not to blame the military for the deaths of innocent Iraqis. Their blood is on Bush's hands.

I have never been a religious man, but today I pray that God brings justice to those who have committed grave and unforgivable sins. And may God bless our Armed Forces across the world, fighting Bush's war. I pray not one more soldier has to not be killed in action. I pray not one more soldier be harmed or disfigured because of this war. And I pray for the Iraqi people. May they forgive America for allowing such atrocities to occur.

stood for since August 2000.

I appreciate your validation. I've lost friends and family due to my beliefs and actions to oppose the bush regime. But in every instance, I've been right.

I don't like saying "I told you so", but every day, with each new tidbit of lies and scandal, I do... but your kind words make the pain I feel for country and my fellow Americans sting a little less.

3. I have tremendous respect for you!

It is so rare to see heartfelt apology, the ability to self-reflect and admit a mistake, or to change one's point of view.

You are truly courageous, and your example (which I am sure is not just something you posted here for our benefit, but is who you are in your daily life) is bound to positively affect others. I'll bet you are truly respected, loved and appreciated by all who know you!

I sure hope I don't sound like a fortune cookie, because I truly mean what I say.

4. Accpted -- and I've been praying a lot recently, too.

Praying for all of us -- Americans, Iraqis, all good people around the world. We need help -- help from the BEST within ourselves and from the BEST among us. We truly need to WISE UP to the fact that there are people on this Earth who PROFIT FROM WAR. War will never end so long as it is "profitable" for some; however devastating it may be for the rest of us. It is LONG PAST DUE for us to 'beat our swords into plowshares' and learn to create a diverse but just and socially conscious global civilization. We have SO MUCH work to do!

5. Thanks. Some of us who've been here may sound over the top sometimes

but we've been cataloguing and researching this stuff for over three years now, and what Moore has in his film has been with us every day since Bush was put into office by the Supreme Court.

Much of what might have looked like over-reacting is the frustration we've felt when no one listened. When we protested against the Iraq Invasion and the media brushed us off as not knowing why we were protesting but thinking we were just anti-war peaceniks and Bush bashers.

This movie may be what the Abu Garaib Prison Torture photo's were to many Americans. You can read all you want about abuse, but when you see the photographs it becomes real.

Again, thanks, for understanding why some of us are so harsh and almost driven to the edge by what's been going on. Carryng this around inside of one is not easy. Moore's film is what we've known..

When you try explaining this stuff to the average citizen,
they think you are crazy. Now we have a fact filled
movie we can show them. Not complete by any means,
but a damn good starting point for the educating of
America.

Probably unnecessary, but very impressive and touching nonetheless.

Some of us (and I'm one of the bigger offenders) tend to get testy with "newbies" who come onto the board and argue with us about this or that -- what you describe, or the frightening similarities between Bush and Hitler. I've never understood why, being new, they don't take a slightly more modest position, asking questions about our assertions instead of ridiculously trying to press their "Bush is no Nazi" case. (Esp. since their case doesn't hold water.) I guess we have to resign ourselves to educating new throngs -- like talking to a parade -- and should probably try to see it as a privilege.

10. Don't Mourn! Organize!

I heard Tim Russert recently hawking his BIG RUSS book, and he reminded me of my own epiphany. Russert and I are almost the same age and one of the "great lessons" he picked up from his Dad was that it was OK to be against the Vietnam War, but you don't root for the enemy (the National Liberation Front or Viet Cong in this case.) This reminded me of a demonstration I went to in about 1968 at Washington Square Park in NYC where college students were carrying NLF flags. I was shocked and horrified. But if the US was hammering Vietnam and had no business there who were the good guys? Seeing those flags changed my whole outlook.

blame. While I am sure their leadership was involved, remember that millions of Saudis weren't involved in any of it. Let's not bomb them, OK? There were many more players in 9-11, including, most likely, quite a few in our own government.

And you certainly won't be the last. Let your awakening be your call to action: Work a phone bank, hang doorknockers, put out a lawn sign, write letters to the editor or your congresscritters, but by all means do something! Glad to add your name into the fight.
