F911 - Radio talk show & TV news crews at Plano, TX showing
Went to the 8:00 PM show at the brand-new Angelika art house in Plano, TX - yes the very heart of Bush country. Three screens, packed houses, the whole works. When we got there, a local Rush wannabe was doing a remote broadcast from just inside the front door of the theatre, and when we were exiting after the movie, the local ABC affiliate was just wrapping up a live shot from in front of the theatre.

This stuff is just unprecedented....

4. A bit subdued...
Lots of laughter, not many tears, some applause. Not like what we are told is happening at many showings.

6. Just opened on Wednesday
There's one in Dallas, too. They put it in this really upscale shopping center in NW Plano, just down the road from EDS and JC Penney corporate headquarters. I'm wondering how this will do out here.

8. I think he saw it
and I heard him on the radio as we were driving to the theatre. He was interviewing/debating people who had seen it, spreading the usual brand of disinformation and lies.

11. In other words
he saw it but the self-defense of denial kicked in so that he could be spared any cognitive dissonance?

Figure. Most RWers I know are rather dysfunctional folks.

12. Ankarlo and Knapp sound like the same dude to me.
They even seem to have the same voice, with the same RW SNEER in the voice ("I'm totally convinced that I and all Republicans are always right and never wrong").

What is beyond me is how the people around here, even the RWers, can stand to have radio that is one RW clone after another. Same talking points, same hatred. Ankarlo/Rush/Hannity/Knapp/Tony Snow/O'Reilly/Gallagher.

Even if there were more "liberal" radio, I couldn't stand to listen to just one left wing host after another without any counterpoint. How tedious.

14. I totally agree
It's just one after another. Even David Gold is back on the air in Dallas.

My pet theory: Wingnuts are subconsciously very insecure about their beliefs and need to have them constantly re-enforced. That's why there are so many of these popular talk shows. We Dems are comfortable with our views and do not need talk radio to help us feel good about them

15. interesting theory....
Plus, as Bushco continues to shred they probably need to hear their
talking points repeated even more. Reality is knocking on their door
so they need to keep the radio on all the time, and up loud!

16. It had to have been Knapp. Guess you are familiar with these two?
Ankarlo is in the am. I'm pretty sure it was Greg. Been dealing with them now for about 6 weeks over the weekly Halliburton protest. Pure Slime!

13. Fox 4 did a story last night, interviewed people outside the theater
It was great to hear Texans dissing Bush. The only negative comment they included was from a middle-aged white man who said he wasn't going to see the movie because "that fat guy is just stupid. He's stupid, he's stupid, he's just stupid."

Such discernment, such a penetrating analysis, and so eloquent, too!
