Every year an artist run organization called Pro-Arts organizes an area wide "Open Studios" event where three hundred local artists open their studios to the public. You can learn more about that here:
http://www.proartsgallery.org "Open Studios" is happening this weekend and next, 11am to 6pm both days.
I've participated in Open Studios for many years and always enjoy meeting people and showing them my work. My studio is located just a few blocks from the Pro-Arts Gallery in Oakland's Jack London Square. You can find more about MY building here:
http://www.offrampstudios.net For me Open Studios isn't so much about selling art (although that does happen) as an opportunity to interact with people and to observe their reactions to my paintings. Unlike performers, visual artists often don't see how other people respond to their work, except in settings like this.
I'm a painter (my avatar is one of my paintings), working in oil and mixed media on canvas, wood, paper and aluminum. My paintings are consistently abstract but with a wide variety of 'styles' within that.
I'm happy to invite DUer's in the Bay Area to come check it out. I'd love to meet some of you in person! ;) Depending on how many visitors are around, we might be able to have an interesting political conversation.
Here are a couple shots from my studio

Thanks!
