We made the switch last week. What do yo like more? Why?

I miss quark, but I can see how once I'm familiar with indesign I'll like it.

1. Definatelly InDesign
Almost every other designer I know hates Quark.
I have less problems with images, the interface is familiar, fonts look so much better.
Our design program just made the switch in the fall, less problems all around and tech support is so much better.

3. We might be switching later in the year
Let me know how it goes -- I've been using Quark for five years; in college, it was Pagemaker. We're finally upgrading to OSX, and reevaluating our layout software.

What I'm dreading the most is sitting through the IT guy's training. Whenever we get new software, they make everyone sit through the training. I've been using OSX for more than a year on my home computer, and I much prefer to learn software by sitting down with the manual (if I need it) and actually playing with it. But, no, we all have to attend this training, which is geared to the people who've never seen a computer before.

4. In Design
beautifully intuitive palets. Robust. Stable. The workspace is almost print quality so you can see what the layout will be on the fly.

Mind you I migrated to InDesign from Pagemaker so it's a little different for me. But InDesign rocks.

5. Quark for one HUGE reason
InDesign won't print at all on anything older than a PostScript Level 2 RIP and has "issues" with anything older than an Adobe Extreme RIP. If your printer still runs an Agfa Star 400 RIP, your files will probably not print.

OTOH, you can throw a Quark file at damn near any RIP you can find and it will print properly.

Call me old school, but if the shit won't print it's useless.
