Who else is sick to death of the Reagan tributes?
All Reagan, all the time. Even on NPR. I tried to avoid watching tv and listening to the radio this weekend. But I still heard Reagan crap on NPR this morning. AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Help me! How soon until everything in this country is named after this asshole?

1. Me and thankfully it should all be over tomorrow, right?
Seriously the whole week will be Reagan Reagan Reagan as is should be as a former President has passed. On AAR they are talking about how it is all about what a jokester he was and no discussion of what actually occured during his presidency and what the effect was.

This is the American Media we are talking about.

7. I heard that Kerry is suspending his campaign for a week to
honor Reagan.

I don't care if the regular news media is talking about him. It is annoying that every other post here on DU is a Reagan post.

8. They were carrying on about his sense of humor on CBS too.
No mention of his "the bombing starts in 5 minutes" crack.

5. Barnes, Hume, and Kondracker were positively gidding on Saturday
I flipped over to Fox to see how they were handling it and they were having a "discussion" with Chris Wallace and I've never seen people so happy about a death, especially the founder of their rebirth and industry. Their talking points were eerily similar to the crawl on CNN.

4. Me!!!
But I think they should subside, since KKKarl Rove must realize that Dubya pales in comparison to Ronnie, so he'll order the "liberal media" to soft-pedal it.

9. get used to it...it's going to go on all week....
they'd better not try to name a school, bridge or anything else after this lunatic ....

and goddamnit, Harry Smith, I don't f'ing care that he addressed the horrible witch queen as 'darling mommy-poo' in his f'ing letters.

my opposite number just made a great point: Nancy is releasing all this crap because she's still trying to convince the public that someone actually loved her, and that she was actually a loveable person.....fat chance, you wretched harpie...

14. Use this time to advantage...
I tried to avoid watching tv and listening to the radio this weekend.

Yep, I'm glad we decided to rent a few videos for the weekend also... anticipating rain here in Delaware. We did watch Smarty Jones race, were disappointed, but still love him all the same.

It's probably best to just try to ignore all of it unless you happen to be the caliber of writer that Will Pitt is and you can say something that's honest without being derogatory. It's only a week, and then the country will be on to other things. Meanwhile, let's keep an eye on this G8 summit thing at Sea Island.

Consider this week a little down time and take advantage of it to plan and work quietly for the next step along the road to victory in November.
