Remember last week, when I had the furnace guys out here? And they installed a new furnace and fixed a condenser pan than supposedly was leaking and it took out the old furnace? Remember?
Well, the condenser pan wasn't fixed, or something wasn't working, and it's leaking just like it did a few weeks ago (at least the new furnace is better protected from leaks).
The furnace lady gave me the runaround: 1. When can you take off of work to have this fixed? (Answer: I can't. I took off of work to have this fixed in the first place.) 2. Can we come tomorrow at 7? (Answer: No. I work at 7 and have evening plans, so I can't come in late and stay late.) 3. Well, I guess we'll have to send someone on overtime...(Answer: Bingo. So long as I don't have to pay a trip charge -- since I already paid a trip charge for them to come out the first time -- and I don't have to pay off-hours pricing for any repairs that didn't get caught last time, during the day.)
I do have the a/c tech coming in on Friday to do a tuneup -- but there's a good chance, if I wait until then, the new furnace will also end up fried (compounded leakage). It's under their warranty, so it wouldn't cost me anything, but damn it -- it's supposed to hit upper 80s according to some forecasts, and it's humid as hell.
Why can't anyone get these things right the first time?
