30" (2560x1600) LCD monitor rumored to be on the way from Apple
http://www.thinksecret.com/news/newdisplays.html

June 8, 2004 - Exclusive Apple is on the verge of announcing a new, totally re-designed family of three flat-panel displays with the addition of a 30-inch HD-ready model. In what appears to be a major change in direction for Apple, the displays will exclusively use a digital visual interface (DVI) connector and will not come with Apple's proprietary Apple Display Connector (ADC).

Sources have confirmed the three new thin film transistor (TFT) active-matrix liquid crystal displays will be available in 20-inch, 23-inch and 30-inch sizes. The 20-inch model will have a maximum resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels with a viewable area of 20.1 inches. The 23-inch, HD-ready model will have a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels with a viewable area of 23.0 inches. The 30-inch, HD-ready model will have a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels with a viewable area of 29.7 inches.

(snip)

The new 30-inch display will present some interesting possibilities in an entertainment environment that could spell a new direction for Apple in the living room. Together with Monday's announcement of AirPort Express, Apple could see the 30-inch display as its foray into home entertainment systems, although the company is expected to immediately play up the display's use in graphics and video production environments.

1. The 23 inch one is already insane.
Still waiting for my two ipod minis (green and pink) and AirPort Express to show up at the door. Dual 23 inchers = drool.

2. I'm surprised the price projections are so low
From the bottom two graphs:

Although sources were unable to confirm, there are signs that the existing, low-end 17-inch display will probably be discontinued. If true, industry experts believe Apple could set prices of the new displays at or below prices for its current displays. The reason for this optimism is pricing for display components that have fallen dramatically in the last six months.

"There is a chance we could see Apple's new 20-inch display at below $1,000," said one expert who watches the display industry for a living. "I can't see Apple not having an inexpensive studio display around the existing price point of $699, but they might surprise us."
