as in "this motherfu#$ing extension cord is all tangled up!" or "where the fu#% are my motherfu$%ing keys??!!"

To actually call somebody that is rarer and like SOB it is often used as a compliment to mean "somebody you would be wise not to mess with". Examplë: "yeah, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil ... because I am the meanest SOB in the valley." or when Dirty Harry's partner calls him JAMF (jive a$$ed MF).

I sorta thought that the MF word meant "dad" as in "somebody who has sex with a mother" or it could mean a person having an affair with a married woman. Technically, either of those would be a motherfu#%er. Although perhaps its original meaning was "somebody who has sex with their own mother" or is that too Freudian? It could, I suppose, involve the 2nd non sexual definition of fu#% meaning "to screw, or cause great harm". Anyway, it is not clear to me that it involves an insult to one's mother.

17. Isn't "bastard" a bit sexist? Not that I'm calling you sexist,

but if you take "bastard" literally to mean "the child of an unmarried mother," aren't you calling the woman immoral and her child the product of her wanton behavior? It's the same reason that I hate "son of a bitch."

Edit: I also believe that there are women who propagate sexist, anti-feminist beliefs.
