I have to get some plant for my indoor cat to eat. What do I get?

He likes to chew on the "lucky bamboo" when he gets a chance, which is very, very rarely. But he looks longingly at it, obviously wanting to mow down.

I googled it and got sites saying it was safe for cats and other sites saying it would kill them.

He never gets to actually go outside.

I want to buy some plant he can munch away on completely safely, but I also want it to satisfy.

Any suggestions?

big gnat-like bugs. The grass was fresh. I wound up throwing a bag over it and putting it in the outside trash.

I was hoping there was a safe, clean plant that I could buy and stick somewhere for him.

6. Any kind of cereal grass works well.

I think it's oat grass that is sold in the pet stores. Rye grass, which growns quickly, would be fine too.

8. We've done catnip

the big leafy stuff not the grass. Our cats love it. Be careful if you plant it outside, it loves to spread.

...it works well, but is kind of expensive. If you're handy with such things, you can probably grow your own cheaper.

10. I just let my guy go outside and mow the lawn once in a while

supervised, of course - and it usually ends in a vomit. We've had good luck with the pet store grass - maybe the gnats were an aberration?
