Brazzaville


(ha, and you thought this would be about Brazil)

Brazzaville is the capital of the Republic of Congo (not to be confused with Democratic Congo which was formerly Zaire). Some books refer to this country as Congo-Brazzaville and the other Congo as Congo-Kinasha. Brazzaville is the capital and approxiametely 70% of the populatoin of the Republic of Congo lives in the capital.

Brazzaville is located on the Congo River (one of the largest in Africa). Because of military strife within the country both the State Department and Lonely Planet guides recommend not travelling to Brazzaville at this time.
