Ok, some of ya'll may remember
this thread from a few weeks ago, which turned into one of my all-time funniest threads and was definitely one of my more memorable responses to a personal ad I'd posted.
So in the interests of equal time I thought I'd relate another story. I posted another ad basically expressing my bewilderment at this whole dating thing and I got the nicest response. From a person who just took the time to be kind and write to me. I was so completely touched by this! And I think he had some really good advice, too. I'll just post a bit:
Rule no 1 is you should be yourself (with some restraint). Enjoy the dating activity itself without worrying about or considering too much the relationship possibilities. That's probably what the guy is doing. (but also checking out your bod)
... (snip)
If you just need sex you can always find "a just sex and drinks" kind of guy that treats you well and is fun. But if you want someone to share, to love etc, you want someone who recognizes who you are, loves who you really are and encourages you to be who you really are.
Put your perfect guy checklist away and give the guy a chance to show you who he really is and keep an open mind. You may discover other qualities and behavior that is unexpectedly great for you.
Anyway, I was so completely touched by this that I wanted to share. What a wonderful, kind, human thing to do.
How about ya'll, got any good advice and/or stories from the dating life?
