Favorite musical stage or screen. |

My all time favorite is Stephen Sondheim's "Assassins". It's a brilliant idea of a musical. Nice score.
Stephen Sondheim is a genius.

As if anybody couldn't tell from looking at my sig.
Catchy tunes, funny as hell, and great political commentary. What's not to love?

And even though the original creators have denounced the movie, I still liked the movie.
I actually did a 30-page paper in college for a music class about Hair.

I have a copy of the 1936 version with Paul Robeson singing "Ol' Man River".
I also like "Flower Drum Song" and "Cabaret".
For newer musicals, I like "The Fix" which is about a ne'er-do-well Senator's son who is groomed for political power by his dragon lady mother and his gay crippled uncle after his father - who had presidential aspirations - dies in the arms of his mistress. It played in London and in Washington D.C. and was a critical favorite, but did not do much business.
