id like to change it. does anyone know how? i have windows xp home by the way.

3. Then you should have a dynamic IP. Turn off the cable modem
and turn it back on. That should reset your IP address.

5. Call your cable company and ask them to give you a new IP address

14. Worked for me...
Try dumping the cookies the site that banned you planted on your computer. I found it to be the easiest way to regain access.

8. If you're using DHCP
You can run WINIPCFG and release your current address. Then click "Renew" and you'll get a new one (although it's possible your DHCP server will just give you the same one again).

If you have a static address then you'll have to ask your ISP for a new one.

11. You can also do it from the command line
Start->Run

Type Cmd then hit Enter

At the DOS prompt type ipconfig /release
then type ipconfig /renew

A lot depends on how long the "lease" is on your ISP's DHCP server. This may just give you back the same IP address if your lease hasn't expired yet.

I once had the same IP address on Roadrunner for over a year.
