Man who set fire, and texted about it, gets three years probation
A 35-year-old Gresham man who set three fires in his girlfriend's Northeast Portland apartment – then text-messaged her repeatedly about the destruction he was causing – was sentenced to three years of probation and nearly a year of domestic-violence counseling.

Cory Oryan Vaughn was convicted today in Multnomah County Circuit Court of second-degree arson and domestic-violence strangulation for the August incidents. The girlfriend had told investigators she thought Vaughn was hurting her puppy. When she tried to stop him, he slapped her face, pushed her down on a bed and tried to choke her with his hands, she said.

He left the apartment, in the 1800 block of Northeast Alberta Street. She later left for the night because he had a key and was scared that he would come back.

2. Some of the dumbest criminals in the world are working right here in America.
I've always been very proud of that. Too bad it appears he won't get the actual prison time he deserves, though.
