Five cats, one bug - and the bug's still alive

I know it's a holiday weekend, and the triplets are nine years old on Tuesday, but you would think that 5 cats would find and destroy one pesky flying whatever-it-is overnight. But no, I hear the bug - and all 5 furballs are passed out. :P

1. My three babies cannot be counted on , either...

They follow said bug around the house, but never EAT it! What good are they? :)

6. They seemed vaguely interested for a few minutes

I think the bug stopped making noise, so they moved on.

I have photos (not handy, sorry) of a freakish moment when Socrates caught a live cicada - in his mouth. The f*cking thing kept rattling, and Socks was just a happy guy. The noise inside his head must have been tremendous. :rofl:

20. I bet that was a sight!

The only creatures my cats go after are the ones that hurt them...wasps and brown recluse spiders!

One day my oldest brought in what I thought was a skink or salamander-looking thingy...still not sure what else it could have been!

Betty88 has a great point...those felines just don't know how good they have it! Kids today!

Evie can open the bedroom door, but Quark hasn't figured it out yet. A couple of days ago, I saw Evie open the door for Quark - she pushed it open, then walked off. He waltzed in and hopped up on the window sill. :wow: They work in pairs. :scared:

4. Its generation Y of cats

We had a cat for many many years who was the killer of all things crawly. She was magnificant, if any creature dared to crawl into our apartment it was taken out. No muss no fuss and no quarter was shown. Sadly she passed on, but lived to a ripe old age. Now 5 or 6 years later, the next generation of cats seems indifferent to their mothers' fear of anything with more than 4 legs. Oh sure, they might make a token effort, if the bug does not put up much of a fight, but far too often we must fight our fears and chase the invaders out on our own.

10. Nice kitties!

Mine were raised (somewhat) by the late, great, Ms Marble, who would have been 21 this weekend. Best damn cat I ever knew. She was the Keeper of All Cat Knowledge, and imparted much of it to the young'uns.

17. Alice looks so regal,

and she so much resembles my only remaining cat, Mosche. Sadly, Mephistine and Layla, both beautiful black cats, have died and Dr. Demento and Wotan Wahnwitz went to kitty heaven even earlier. Cats have owned me all my life, and they all have such distinct personalities, don't they?

I won't even claim "strength in numbers" at my place! Any one of my menagerie would pounce and be nomming within seconds! Your furkids are weenies! ;)

Then Socrates showed up, and he's literally three times her size. She could gut him like a fish, but she prefers to adhere to decorum. :P Next thing I know, live bug, sleeping cats.
