Search engine hijack! Please help.

Okay, I've been dealing with a nasty search engine hijack that I cannot get rid of for the life of me. I've run scans via Ad Aware, Malwarebytes, and Symantec and none of them have gotten rid of it.

Basically, whenever I go on Yahoo search and type in a term, the results page will come up but whenever I click on a result it will redirect me to a spam page. It was doing that on Google search too for a while, although

I prefer to use Internet Explorer 7 (my laptop uses Internet Explorer 8 but I'm not fond of it.) I downloaded Firefox but the problem is still there when I use Firefox. I've attempted to delete and reinstall IE7 to no avail. I'm at my wits end on this. Can anyone with any type of expertise give me some advice on this?

1. Try cccleaner or hijackthis.

But be careful with both of them. They're both free and they go deep. Too deep, if you're not careful. Good luck.

3. CCleaner is a powerful computer laxative

It's effective. Use only as needed.

2. I had the same problem. If all else fails, you can do System Restore or re-install Windows.

It depends on what version of Windows you are running.

System Restore will take your computer back to the time before it happened, presuming it was relatively recently.

I had Windows Vista, and installed Windows 7 on top of it. The problem was solved instantly.

Not only that, Windows 7 saves all your old files in a folder, and you can even opt not to erase everything if you want to.

6. Restore system has worked for me twice.

Once I restored the whole system, and once I just went back to a point (a day or two) before I knew the trouble started. I'd try the latter first, as the other is more radical.

4. Try Comodo Internet Security or Spybot Search and Destroy.

Both free and work well for me.
