What do I do?

Look - we gave her run of the house - and she pees on the carpet. I understand why - we had a Samoyed who lay on those carpets many times. That Samoyed is long gone, but the aromas remain. We had the carpets professionally cleaned, and she STILL peed on them.

She knows its wrong, and so she waits until we are unaware, and sneaks off to pee on them.

So we've been crating her any moment I can't watch her.

Any ideas????

1. Clean the pee stains with an enzyme product, e.g. "nature's Miracle"

Put her on a regular schedule for feeding and trips outside. She must pee and poop before bedtime, so you'll need to monitor her elimination. Use the crate liberally until she can be trusted, giving her more freedom as she demonstrates she can handle it. If she backslides, she goes back to the crate training all over again.

2. I agree with the first response..

Natures Miracle is the best stuff out there, not only for pet's messes but pretty much anything. When you take your dog out, as soon as they go, take them in. No playing till they know outside is for "potty". When I trained mine, when they'd go, I'd say good girl potty outside. Now if I need to take them out real quick, all I say say is go potty and they do. Limit where he can go in the house, use baby gates if you have to. Learn his "tells", when you think he's about to go, say outside potty and take him out. If you catch him going, say "no" outside potty. And use your crate when your not around.

Pretty soon, he'll "ask" to go out, when he has to go.

3. Maturity. I thought my chihuahua would not get it. A girl with one in her purse

told me hers was still "struggling" after seven months. An old man told me his girl-chi would "die from embarrassment" if she peed inside.

I am absolutely THRILLED with my girl now. She has gone about a year and NEVER does it inside.

Without pictures (they don't have to be of her peeing) of said Beagle, I cannot think of offering any useful advice. The more pictures, the better the advice you will receive.

9. I vote for Nature's Miracle, too, and...

can you keep Mz Beagle confined to whatever room you are in? (Closed doors and/or doggie gates.) I wouldn't give her the run of the house or any opportunity to "sneak off" for quite a while. The closer she is to you when she pees, the sooner you can reprimand her (tone of voice mostly, deep, godlike disappointment works pretty well) when she does it, the more she can't pretend she doesn't know it's wrong. And the moment she does it, of course, she gets crated or put outside. Immediately. She will eventually get it. Take her outside a lot, have faith and stay strong. And yes, this thread needs pictures.
