1. Did you see that Jets guy, #17 I think, do those back flips when they won? That was some
juxtaposition. He was a really good tumbler.

2. Sorry, but they wanted it-the Jets wouldn't let them have it - GREAT
coaching by Rex Ryan. Great games yet to come.

8. Yeah, Rex Ryan went all Buddy Ryan aside Bill Bellichick's head, didn't he?
There's no other way to say it, Ryan outcoached him. Brady was as smart and accurate as ever, and he had all day to throw, but the Jets just shut down anyone he could throw to. And all the trash talk before the game now seems like head games Ryan and the team were playing to make Bellichick focus on Brady's game instead of worrying about the receivers. They really exposed how weak Brady's receiving core is now.

Now the question is, does this mean that Rex Ryan just emerged as an elite coach, or was this a one-time high for him?

Great game. I don't care about either team a great deal, it was just great football and great pre-game hype, like a good old-fashioned pro-rassling match.

9. I agree with everything
I just wanted to say that I felt the Jets got good pressure on him, even on 3-man rushes, they sacked him a total of 5 times.

To answer your question, I felt Rex Ryan was one of the best coaches in the NFL last season. The Jets defense last year allowed a remarkably low 5.4 yards per pass attempt, which is the same number the Steelers D allowed the year they won the Super Bowl for '08-'09 season. This year no team is that low, the Steelers are the lowest (again) at 6.3 while the Jets are 6.5 which is still very impressive. I like Ryan because he understands the importance of the running game. I recalled last season, shortly after he named Sanchez the starter over Kellon Clemons. He was asked by a reporter how he was going to help the rookie QB to succeed. He had a very relaxed and helpful tone, and said they were going to hand off more than any other team. Sure enough they lead the league in rushing attempts last year and they are in the top 5 again this year in that department. Even though they lost to the Colts, I was very impressed with what they accomplished. Also their match-ups against the Colts is like watching a chess match. This playoffs, Ryan was defended the pass nearly the whole game, willing sacrificing running yards because Ryan said (paraphrasing) "Manning is just like any QB in the league when the running back has the ball."

They may not beat Pittsburgh though. The Steelers have a better QB, better defense, and a running game that is almost as good. However it should be a fun match-up to watch against 2 of the best defenses. I still put him in one of the best coaches in the league should they lose that game. Steelers are a damn good team.

10. Good analysis
I missed his comments about Manning, but that is basically what he did to Brady, too. The Patriots almost came back at the end by going completely to the run, but even so it seemed they were just using the run to pull the secondary in closer so they could get back to the pass.

The Steelers are a tough team. They are balanced and don't rely on any one aspect too much. Sanchez and Holmes can connect just about anywhere on the field, but with the Steelers secondary able to intercept anywhere on the field, they can't rely on that too much. Still, the Patriots beat the Steelers, and the Jets beat the Patriots, so who knows? It could be a great game.
