8. The vibe is very different --

kind of lifeless, if you ask me. :shrug: I think so many long-time folks have walked (been booted) away from the new version for a variety of reasons, and it is really showing. There hasn't been anything happening externally to really "jell" the new place (Katrina, Bush, the Gulf) -- that is made worse by it being an election year and the "get in line" mood. :( Also, the activism that made DU the first 8 years has all but died since O got into office.

I go to "other" sites and see the names of the best of the old DU -- that is what is wrong with DU3; it is a sad shell of a once-great place. :(

over there. and I know the jury system is supposed to be about self moderating and transparency but, it feels like we are spying and tattling on each other. . .

10. I have served on more than a few juries and --

it is clear from some of the other jurors on certain posts that old scores/issues are being hashed out. :( Plus, there have been a startling number of call-out threads where certain members have flat-out said they are monitoring posts and recommends for anti-O sentiment. :puke: DU2 was like two armed camps (GD & GDP) and now, with DU3, the "safety zone" the Mods system provided has been dismantled .

over there they are griping if they don't get enough.
bunch o' tattletales running around alerting on each other
and then going over to H&M to gripe about the verdict.

they want us to pay more money for the privilege of doing more of the work while having less features with which to do the work.

do they/we really need that many Hosts? and yet with all those Hosts they have less autonomy than the Moderators have over here.

how is everyone supposed to keep up with everyone and know the history between 2 posters. each post is individually judged so history has no merit.

13. It's really a mess over there - did not renew my "star" or whatever they're calling now because of

it.

1. It's totally clique-driven.

2. The "Host" concept is deeply flawed. Hell, in one group over there you had hosts and co-hosts going to war with each other in public.

3. The bullies who caused so many problems in DU2 but the admins could never summon up the courage to ban rule the roost in DU3. I see now why the admins went on and on and on in "ask the admins" how wonderful DU3 was going to be: it is, for them. They no longer have to take any responsibility for anything other than keeping the lights on on their own website. The fact that it has descended into a Lord-of-the-flies type atmosphere over apparently doesn't trouble them in the least.
