Guess who created the collapse of Argentina 10years ago?
"The economic collapse wiped out the middle class and raised the level of poverty to 57.5%.

Central to the collapse was the implementation of neo-liberal policies which enabled the swindle of billions of dollars by foreign banks and corporations.

Many of Argentina's assets and resources were shamefully plundered. Its financial system was even used for money laundering by Citibank, Credit Suisse, and JP Morgan (sound familar?).

The net result was massive wealth transfers and the impoverishment of society which culminated in many deaths due to oppression and malnutrition."

Here is one guy's story of how he survived , what he learned, what he wished he had known/done before the colapse. ( four parts)

( Yes...I have posted this a few months ago, before we were as close to repeating the scenario as we apparently are now.)
Now I am making out my shopping list.

1. Two big lessons from this one
First, get a head lamp, preferably an LED one. Battery life is long and it's one of those gizmos you didn't know you needed until you got it.

Even if SHTF doesn't quite happen, it's great for rummaging around in the bottom of the fridge or in a dark closet.

The other is that other people are much more comforting than a gun. There is comfort and increased safety in numbers, even if the number is small. Know your neighbors, at the very least.

6. It's why I explode with fury when I read these crooked wretches posting on threads here, sneering at
Cuba, Fidel and his brother. Well, the low-lifes liek to fancy that Fidel's dead. As if it were a personal triumph for them that it had been hushed up. But it seems it was just another of their sick fantasies.

I read that article when you first posted it, and I can't get the thought of that little girl crying her eyes out all the time in class because she hadn't eaten for three days, out of my mind. I think of her when I see these sick anti-Cuba posts.

12. I like the idea of both
We have a close small community and we all are armed. I am a crack shot but my husband is a bulleyes shot with bow and arrow. What worries me more than two legged predators is that i have read that during the depression wild game was hunted almost to extinction, ie deer. There are so many more people on the planet now. We will need great cooperation to grow food locally and a good community cohesiveness to make it work. This all takes time and is the most important thing for the survival of everyone.

4. And Naomi Klein and Avi Lewis's film "The Take" documents this so well!
And why efforts like Republic workers doing very similar things in occupying the factory are so important now in taking our country back!

7. The flesh-eating bug of US capitalism, which has devoured so many poor
and even not so poor, people in South and Central America, and Lord knows where else, has reached your own shores. "Necrotising fasciitis". The last word has an interesting political resonance, doesn't it?

10. Poppy Bush and his fishing pal Menin
both criminals. I think we should have the feds place holds on all his bank accounts and seize his properties.

11. If you've read Greg Palast's stuff
you'd know all this by now. None of this is an accident. It's all part of a plan -- and the plan is working beautifully, like clockwork.
