The shady sunroom

My co-worker is just finishing his new sunroom. It's on the due north side of his house, is covered in windows and has multiple skylights. His plan is to run a large pellet stove in it and heat the whole house.

I guarantee come December he'll be bitching about how cold his house is - the 'sunroom' will be a giant heat radiator. Oh, and the guy is a physicist. <sigh>

1. Wouldn't a sunroom work better on the south side?

Except maybe around sunrise/sunset in the summer, I wouldn't imagine that the windows will get much exposure.

2. doesn't sound like much of a physicist

..but, the low e windows might reflect alot of the radiant heat from it.

More than likely, he'll just burn a whole truckload of pellets, and his house will be warm and toasty.
