Sorry it's taking so long to edit this thing. I hope to have something to post within another day.
I have to spend a certain amount of time fighting with my b-friend. Nothing serious, but he's the commercial art guy while I'm the philosophical artiste. Hopefully the diversity will result in a stronger product.
We do have some great footage of some extraordinary people. I'm trying to do one cut of near-hour documentary length and a shorter version for on-line purposes.
I wanted to share one little incident that's stuck in my mind and that won't make it into any of the versions 'cause we didn't get it on camera.
I was asking folks who might be good to talk with, and someone pointed someone else out, and I ran after the wrong gal--a couple in cowboy hats. (There are plenty of great folks in TX, including plenty of liberals, who wear cowboy hats.) The gal had been taking photos.
When I asked them whether they'd be willing to be interviewed, the guy laughed and asked, "Do we look like we belong here?"
I said, "It's a big tent on both sides."
The gal said, "We don't have tattoos, or nose rings, or blue hair." Me: "You should try it--it might not be bad!"
The guy laughed, though I'm not sure the chick ever smiled; and we parted.
I thought this interesting both from human interest and strategic (Repub. spies) angle.
