You probably remember the theory that Pennsylvania's dog-loving GOP senator floated in 2002 -- which re-surfaced this spring -- about why Boston was at that time the hotbed of priest pedophilia:
It is startling that those in the media and academia appear most disturbed by this aberrant behavior, since they have zealously promoted moral relativism by sanctioning "private" moral matters such as alternative lifestyles. Priests, like all of us, are affected by culture. When the culture is sick, every element in it becomes infected. While it is no excuse for this scandal, it is no surprise that Boston, a seat of academic, political and cultural liberalism in America, lies at the center of the storm.

It seems that clergy sexual abuse of children -- not to mention a cover-up that included not one but two cardinals -- was arguably worse in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia than it ever was in Boston.
The grand jury, which investigated the archdiocese for more than three years, concluded that at least 63 priests - and probably many more - sexually abused hundreds of minors over the past several decades.

some of the abuses the priests did are listed and are disgusting.
the article ends with:
On the other hand, maybe the culture in Pennsylvania is "sick." After all, we've elected Santorum to the Senate twice now.
