Bush and Abramoff have met. Here is the photo.

http://blog.citizensforethics.org/node/478

Submitted by CREW on 8 January 2007 - 5:08pm. Bush Administration | Jack Abramoff

As we saw as recently as last Friday, the Bush Administration has gone to great lengths to prevent any access to information documenting a relationship with Jack Abramoff. But that relationship exists. CREW was provided a photo of President Bush and Jack Abramoff taken at a campaign fundraiser in December 2003. The White House did not want anyone to see this photo. So, that begs the question: What else are they hiding?

1. That's a photo op pic and doesn't prove anything.
I'd bet Shrub hashad millionstaken just like it with a million different people. I don't care about pics like this. I want the WH visitor records, and docs from Abramoff's files proving just how involved Shrub and all his buddies really were in the scams Jack pulled off!

2. It proves they met.
Isn't that exactly what the WH insisted never happened?

4. I thought I heard last year that Shrub said he was sureJack was atsome WH events.
and they probably had some pics taken together, but he can't possibly remember everyone he's had his pic taken with. Ithink that wasa statement passed on by Tony Snow's predicessor. The talk at the time involved Shrubasking Jack about his kidsor something.

12. Wrong- it begs the question- What OTHER info is Bush hiding?
Think before you shrug off yet another Bush scandal- the Bush WH told the American people time and time again that bush never met him- then they refused to release the photos once it was found that we has lying (sigggh-AGAIN)

If this were Bill Clinton, every Republican Senator and congresmen would be on TV demanding "what else is he hiding?" and "What else are they lying about."

It also begs the question- Why didnt the media vocally DEMAND, over and over that these photos be released? I'll be many viewers would like to hear major media people's excuse for that one.

3. There it is!
Not that this proves any significant relationship, but the WH denied and covered up this pic for over half a year!

I remember that there were huge sums of money offered to keep this out of the press. At least until well after Jack-o went to jail.

And here it is.

:)

8. Bush meets 3650 people in person every year.
I would'nt put much faith in a photo being
the mea culpa.

you may choose your own line of thinking.
That is why we are a democracy.

15. I like facts too- and this photo helps illustrate the fact that Bush is a liar.
Bush originally claimed that he did not know him- then he back-tracked and said thetre might be a photo op.

I'd like to know why, in an age where lying is am impeachable offense, he felt the need to lie about his story at first.

But you are right as far as false hopes- I doubt any DEM will raise the question like a Republican would if this were a Clinton, Gore or Kerry.

It does indeed "nail" Bush as a liar as far as anyone who is paying attention is concerned- but you are right to say it does not as far as DEM leaders and the media goes.

16. Even a distant nephew of mine has a picture of him with Bush
Edited on Wed Jan-10-07 10:55 PM by fuzzyball
...a large photo with just the two of them standing
side by side and smiling. My cousin emailed me that
photo and I asked him how much his son paid to have
that picture taken and the answer was $5000 contribution
at a fund raising dinner in Milwaukee.

Now I know my nephew, he runs a business in Milwaukee, Wis.
I know he does not know Bush any better than I know Bush which
is zero. But all it takes is a contribution and anyone can have
a picture taken. I understand every president meets with dozens
of people every day in White House.

It is silly and childish to accuse any president that he/she
must be a friend of so and so because we have proof...a photo
of the two together.

11. do I think Bush knew Abramoff? Yes. Does this picture prove anything? No
I believe that Bush knew who Abramoff was and what he had done in terms of fundraising for repubs (including Bush). I believe that they probably met at more than a photo op. But this picture, which is obviously a photo op picture, proves nothing and is not worth getting excited about. I've had my picture taken with various actors, musicians, etc. at trade shows and other events. I even have a photo signed by Jon Stewart where he wrote my name and "best wishes". Does Jon Stewart have a clue who I am? Absolutely not.

14. It would be plenty to get excited about it if it were a DEM President.
Every Republican would be on TV asking/demanding:

"What else has Bush lied about- at first they said he never met??? Why did he first feel the need to lie about knowing him unless he really did know him?"

"Why did the Liberal Media not demand these photos be released BEFORE the election? Even after they found out he was lying, they gave him a free pass on this-why?"

"What other photos is Bush or the media hiding?"

It is not a big deal b/c no one is asking the right questions.
