Rick Santorum Joins Ethics and Public Policy Center, Establishes Program on America's Enemies

Posted: Tuesday, January 9, 2007

PRESS RELEASES & NEWS
Publication Date:

The Ethics and Public Policy Center is delighted to announce that the Honorable Rick Santorum is joining EPPC as a Senior Fellow. Mr. Santorum will establish and direct a program, titled America's Enemies, that will focus on identifying, studying, and heightening awareness of the threats posed to America and the West from a growing array of anti-Western forces that are increasingly casting a shadow over our future and violating religious liberty around the world.

"As a United States Senator, Rick Santorum was a champion of efforts to counter the threat of radical Islamic fascism, to protect victims of religious persecution, and to promote democracy and religious liberty around the world," said EPPC President Ed Whelan. "We are honored that he is joining EPPC to continue his important and courageous work on these matters."

"In these perilous and uncertain times, I believe it is critical that we define the threats that confront America," said Mr. Santorum. "Without a clear definition and precise understanding of our enemies we cannot fight effectively and our own citizens become divided. It is my hope that the America's Enemies program at EPPC will help the American people -- including our leaders -- understand and communicate with clarity, honesty, and consistency the enemies we face and the complex and enormous threat that they pose to our lives and the freedoms we all enjoy."

1. Ethics and Santorum do not belong in the same sentence unless
the words "lack of" are also included.

13. Maybe it is one of those "counter-named" organizations
listing those things they are trying to eliminate. You know, like the "American Cancer Society",
"Accuracy in Media", and "Excellence in Broadcasting"

3. That's rich....
Funny how all of the sudden, these thugs are getting so interested in ethical behaviour and a "love your neighbor as yourself", isn't it? I'm sure that this has nothing to do with the fact that most folkds absolutely despise them and what they stand for.

"Glenn is a leading cultural commentator with a distinct voice," said Jim Murphy, senior executive producer of "Good Morning America." "At times, he is the perfect guest for many of the talk topics we cover on morning news programs."

CNN Headline News said Tuesday that Beck will make several single-topic specials this year, after a previous one - on Islamic extremism - set a ratings record for the network.

Beck will make specials on people who believe in the apocalypse, Islam in America and the "myths of global warming," the network said. The first will air in late February or early March.

12. So he's already found another job where he can be paid for hating people?
If he lived here, he could have become a writer for the Daily Mail.

14. Somehow, I just knew that this asshole wasn't going to go away after the election.
And I am especially not-surprised by the fact that it is a "think"-tank that is providing him with a life line.

It's Santorum vs. our enemies at think tank
Wednesday, January 10, 2007
BY BRETT LIEBERMAN
Of Our Washington Bureau

WASHINGTON - Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum was defeated in November, but he hopes his new job will allow him to slay America's enemies.

Santorum, a Republican, will lead the "America's Enemies" program at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, a conservative Washington think tank.

He plans to continue speaking about the threats posed by "Islamic fascism" and such unfriendly nations as Venezuela, North Korea and Iran.

Santorum, who served 12 years in the Senate and four in the House, made the issue the centerpiece of the final months of his failed re-election campaign. He gave a series of speeches about what he dubbed the "gathering storm," a reference to the characterization of Europe leading up to World War II by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

"In these perilous and uncertain times, I believe it is critical that we define the threats that confront America," Santorum said in a statement released by the center, where he also will serve as a senior fellow.

"Without a clear definition and precise understanding of our enemies we cannot fight effectively, and our own citizens become divided," he said. "It is my hope that the America's Enemies program at EPPC will help the American people -- including our leaders -- understand and communicate with clarity, honesty and consistency the enemies we face and the complex and enormous threat that they pose to our lives and the freedoms we all enjoy."

Santorum was defeated in November by state Treasurer Bob Casey Jr., a Democrat who took his Senate seat last week.

In his new position, Santorum will lecture, write articles and organize conferences to identify and focus attention on threats that face the United States, the West and, in particular, religious freedom. He also will be responsible for raising several hundred thousand dollars annually to fund the program.
