Glenn Beck, a regular presence on CNN Headline News and radio, will join Good Morning America as a commentator.

NEW YORK (AP) — CNN Headline News and radio talk-show host Glenn Beck will join ABC's Good Morning America as a regular commentator, ABC News said Tuesday.
Beck's radio show can be heard on 232 radio stations and XM satellite radio, and his television offshoot has boosted the ratings for CNN Headline News, where it airs twice each evening.

1. Why, doesn't ABC have enough racist, bigotted, narrow-minded journalists?

2. Why??
Is Good Morning America feeling the ratings pressure so they'll put some jack ass on there who literally says the stupidest shit....all this to BOOST ratings?

Forget logic going into news reporting, and morning news shows. Glenn Beck is invading our airwaves!

3. Let's tell *Disney* how we feel -- and really freak 'em out...
Send letters to Steve Jobs, John Lasseter -- anyone *not* expecting to "hear from the public" about this...

4. I wrote thoughtful emails to CNN and yet, Glenn Beck, still disgraces my
television screen every weeknight, i.e., right before I immediately turn the channel. ;)

I don't think CNN or any other USA M$M cares as long as they're pleasing their war profiteering corporate masters.

5. Good lord
I wonder if he'll crash and burn like Limbaugh on Sports Center. I can still remember the looks on Berman's and Jackson's faces when he came out with the "affirmative action for McNabb" remarks.

6. The ugly truth is, Glen Beck has mainstream popularity, otherwise he wouldn't have gotten the gig.
Just another ugly truth about our country.

9. I can't relate to my beloved country anymore ...
Did these poor dolts who watch Glenn Beck all take some sort of STUPID PILL before the show; or do they enjoy being talked down to by a putz.

10. Not as much as he thinks
His CNNHN show gets terrible ratings. Albeit, they're better than what CNNHN was getting before, but Olbermann smokes his ass big time.

11. CNN-HN used to be great
They faltered badly when they abandoned the 24/7 "All the news every half hour" format. Nowadays, it is almost indistiguishable from Faux. :puke:

20. Beck is in the minority, where are the mainstream progressives?
Look at the results of the last election as well as all recent polling, Beck is in the minority. Where is ABC's progressive commentator? I don't see one anywhere, yet all recent polling shows the majority of Americans want us to get out of Iraq, they want Universal Health Care, and they want Democrats in control of Congress and the White House. Yet we have no one to represent us on ABC while the wingnuts get Beck.

Dear GMA,

For years, I turned my TV from local news to Good Morning America, partially because I disliked the Today Show hosts so much.

With the breaking news that Glenn Beck is being added as a commentator, I will forego morning 'news' entirely and change to HGTV. Glenn Beck has no business being on any radio or TV program. He and his self-centered, racist opinions do not belong on the public's airwaves at all.

Edited to add this URL for GMA..... http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=158076

I wish to complain in the strongest possible terms about your network's decision to put talk show broadcaster Glen Beck on Good Morning America. I find Glen Beck extremely objectionable because he organized a pro-war rally in Cleveland when President Bush was campaigning to start a war with Iraq. Well, we all know how that turned out and it would not have happened were it not for the likes of propagandists like Glen Beck.

edit: I don't think it went through. I had to use your GMA form.

Those folks were really inundated when ABC ran the hit piece on Clinton and I believe that helped force at least an appearance of concern at ABC.

19. Done. Here's my letter:
I would like to voice my concern regarding the announcement that Glen Beck is to become a regular commentator on "Good Morning America". I find Beck's incessant war drum beating and thinly veiled racism morally and intellectually repugnant. Please, the American people need to hear more voices of reason and compassion over the airwaves. Short-sighted blowhards like Glen Beck only serve to coarsen our national discourse. We deserve, in fact we DEMAND, much better from our news media. Thank you.

Edited on Tue Jan-09-07 09:52 PM by Generic Brad
How can they expect to be a profitable company if they insist on finding new ways to alienate the majority of their potential viewers, listeners, and theme park goers? I'm sick of Disney, ABC, and their radio affiliates. I hope they get buried in the ratings game.

27. GOP wins elections=more GOP pundits; Dems win= more GOP pundits
They made Stossel co-anchor at 20/20 citing 'conservative times"

What does a Democratic landslide get us? Another angry white racist dork.

If the media's so liberal, why don't I see Hightower, Arianna, Molly Ivins, Amy Goodman, Sam Seder or Randi Rhodes on TV more often?
