What part of "no buildup of troops" does Bush not understand?
Well, CNN has just reported that Bush will be sending in more troops within months. His approval rating is now at 30 per cent. Clearly the American people do not want more troops sent in harm's way. In a strange way and perverse way, I am hoping he does send troops so his approval ratings go down to 15 per cent. He has to go. He must be removed from the White House albeit peacefully.

2. Worse is that Bush is saying the 2002 IWR vote
gives him the authority to do this. The vote that will live in infamy! :grr:

4. A vote based on false intelligence -

to take out WMDs that didn't exist and get rid of an evil man who's dead. I'd say that IWR "does not apply" any longer.

11. Bush is gonna do what he wants regardless.

Ted Kennedy's stated today he will introduce a new resolution SOON (before the escalation is implemented). He said the IWR is obsolete and Bush can't continue to operate under it - no longer applies to the current situation. So they need a new one, one that states any escalation must have Congressional approval or they won't fund it. Of course I don't expect Bush to abide by Congress's wishes, but what the resolution will do is put on record that he's going against them (and ultimately us). It's a chess game at this point, and a new resolution is a very smart move.

12. What AP reported is Bush is moving before the end of Jan.
Edited on Tue Jan-09-07 03:52 PM by Pithy Cherub
The discussion on CNN was how fast could Kennedy move because the Commander in Chief had the right to move those troops in now. They are already gearing up under the prevailing IWR... They discussed how fast that legislation would have to move and Kennedy is due on The Situation Room later. A wannabe law is trumped by a current legal authorization, no matter how disgraceful, every time...

13. It will be interesting.
Kennedy's been around a long time and hopefully he's savvy enough to get this through. It won't be a bill, it will be a resolution.

7. We'll see how well that works for him
The only people who support him now are the ones who would follow him off a cliff.

3. Bush believes himself a dictator; what we want is insignificant to him.
Those feeding his ego, the neocons, are getting what they want and they don't give a damn about any of us either. I want them all tried for treason. In a perfect world, it just might happen. Not gonna hold my breath though.

14. Uh....not the WHOLE military.
There are quite a few enlisteds and officers who hate Bush's guts more than anything even though they have to be discreet about this. I do not know how much more discreet they are going to be though.
