Serious Contemplation Requires Republicans To Moderate Their Image
Edited on Sun Jan-21-07 02:19 PM by kentuck
The Repubs have just finished their winter meeting. Former Chairman Ken Mehlman warned them that their defeat in November was not just about corruption and the war in Iraq - as if that weren't enough. The Repubs had lost the faith of the American people.

So, we can anticipate a change in Republican strategy? They will no longer be the "big spenders" and welfare hand-outters to the corporate flim-flammers? They will no longer be in bed with the religious fanatics that interject themselves into personal family matters like the Schiavo affair? They will no longer be the incompetent Keystone cops that could not organize a two-car parade?

No, they will continue to be all of the above but they will attempt to change their image - the way they are perceived by the public. Once again, they will rely on deception to regain power. Because that is all they have and all they know. Their policies are ones of failure. They cannot succeed but only by PR and deception and demonizing the opposition. For example, they will resort back to their "big-taxing" Democrats argument, even after they have run us so deep into debt that we may not see daylight for decades to come. Bet on it.

2. They believe they have 1 year...
They do not want to be supporting Bush and his war when 2008 rolls in. If deception were the Devil.... ?

3. I agree about "attempting to change their image" because

the only clearcut alternative would be for them to demonize BushCheney, and that ain't gonna happen. But I'm thinking at least some Repub candidates will bash him and splinter off. Heh, heh, heh.
