This Californian Will Vote For D. Kucinich in our Primary. Who Else Will?
No secret here that I have supported Governor Dean with my money, time and heart. He's out now and just as the Golden State gets its turn to vote.

So, I will rise early on the morning of the California Primary and head out to vote for Congressman Dennis Kucinich.

Any others plan to join me?

7. Kucinich Should Show Well In the Golden State.
California may follow Maine's lead and give Kucinich a great showing now with Dean dropping out.

I'm happy to be one his votes out here on the Left Coast.

3. I'm joining you.
Ultimately I am 100% ABB but I have nothing but respect for DK. My vote won't make a difference in the Primary so I will vote with my heart.

Also please tell everyone you know that Pro 57 & 58 are scams and must be defeated. The state Democrats have screwed us on this one.

29. 58 and 57 scams
Thanks for mentioning about pro 58 and 57 being scams- that's what my gut was telling me. It has been difficult getting any information or progessive opinions on the ballot props, I spent time online searching for any. Without good information, most people will think these are ok, supported by the democrats, etc.

6. why not vote for Dean if he's still on the ballot?
that's what I'm going to do. I've been waiting over a year to vote for Dean, so I'm gonna do it if his name is there.

Call it a protest vote. I'm fucking pissed off about this, the fact that in California, the biggest state in the union, our choices for the Dem contender have already been flushed down the toilet because of the stupid primary system starting in old white states like Iowa and NH

8. I'm Voting For Kucinich, But You'll Get Zero Argument From Me.
I thought about doing the same thing as you and I understand and appreciate your doing so.

For me, as if my vote rally matters anyway, since Dean has dropped out, I want now to express my gratitude to Congressman Kucinich for his votes against the IWR and Patriot Act and to show solitude with his sterling health care proposal...the best of all the candidates.

Should you vote for Governor Dean, you won't be wasting your vote in my eyes at all, Maggrwaggr.

9. I like Kucinich, but
have been troubled by his statement that we should unilaterally withdraw from Iraq, because I think we have a responsibility to help clean up the mess we created there. Never should have gone but now we're stuck and more than ever need to involve UN and cooperate. His statement strikes me as naive and that makes me uncomfortable. I may go ahead and vote for him to register a Progressive protest against the moderate rightist move the Dems seem to be making. That said, I will in general election support Dean and/or Edwards and/or Kerry.

10. His position is to get the UN involved, and pay for what we broke.
Check out his official position statement (http://www.kucinich.us/bringourtroopshome.php):

The following is the only detailed plan from any candidate for President that will quickly bring all U.S. troops home from Iraq.

The United States must ask the United Nations to manage the oil assets of Iraq until the Iraqi people are self-governing.

The United Nations must handle all the contracts: No more Halliburton sweetheart deals, No contracts to Bush Administration insiders, No contracts to campaign contributors. All contracts must be awarded under transparent conditions.

The United States must renounce any plans to privatize Iraq. It is illegal under both the Geneva and the Hague Conventions for any nation to invade another nation, seize its assets, and sell those assets. The Iraqi people, and the Iraqi people alone must have the right to determine the future of their country's resources.
The United States must ask the United Nations to handle the transition to Iraqi self-governance. The U.N. must be asked to help the Iraqi people develop a Constitution. The U.N. must assist in developing free and fair elections.
The United States must agree to pay for what we blew up.
The United States must pay reparations to the families of innocent Iraqi civilian noncombatants killed and injured in the conflict.
The United States must contribute financially to the U.N. peacekeeping mission.
The United Nations, through its member nations, will commit 130,000 peacekeepers to Iraq on a temporary basis until the Iraqi people can maintain their own security.
U.N. troops will rotate into Iraq, and all U.S. troops will come home.
The United States will abandon policies of "preemption" and unilateralism and commit to strengthening the U.N.
"I will work tirelessly to take America in a new direction, to gain approval of this plan at the United Nations, and to put it into action, bring all U.S. troops home in 90 days. Only if the United States takes a new direction will we be able to persuade the U.N. community to participate. Such a new direction is reflected in this 10-point plan.

15. Now with my kid's college funds. I didn't ask Bush to attack.
And I don't want to pay Halliburton to continue stealing Iraq's oil. The U.N. should take charge.

Dennis Kucinich will STAND UP AGAINST the planned reinstitution of the draft, like RoveCo have planned for next spring. I'm not so sure that Kerry and Edwards would do as much, as they want to stay in Iraq indefinately.

Thanks again for your support!

32. Why risk losing with Kerry than having a fighting chance with Edwards?
Come on, that's a protest vote, and if you make it, then Kerry may well walk away--make that stride away--with the nomination and then get eviscerated in the South.

Kerry can't win with the margin that Edwards can, and since it's such a dicey proposition all around, and likely to be stolen at that, we should go with a winner.

Our vote counts now, so let's use it to get the best standard-bearer out there.

35. Another Californian for Kucinich
Every time I talk to a friend or send a political e-mail, I always try to encourage people to vote for Kucinich. I can't think of a single issue where I differ with Kucinich. No one has a more comprehensive vision for real change in this country than he does.

Like you David, I supported Governor Dean, especially last year when it seemed like he was the only one speaking out against Bush. But once the primaries started and everything went Kerry's direction because of his "electability" (God I hope they're right. I'll certainly do my part to help in November.), I took a closer look at all the candidates. I believe that in the primaries you vote with your heart and in the G.E. vote with your head. My heart tells me Kucinich is right, more than any other candidate.

So keep on spreading the word! Let's put Kucinich in double digits on March 2 and give him a crowd of delegates to take to Boston!

Edited on Thu Feb-19-04 06:05 AM by Sly Kal
He is on the ballot and there a many people in CA voting for him to pick up some more delegates. He has delegates and if he can gather more he can have some influence on the final outcome. Voting for Kucinich is not going to change anything. He even lost the delegates he thought he got in Me. His total there has not dropped below 15 percent.
