How can Edwards win?

His strategy is to continue to cherry pick and try to win Georgia, New York, and Ohio on Super Tuesday. Even if he wins all three of those states, what good does it do him if Kerry is close behind. Delegates are handed out proportionally, not winner take all.

Kerry is likely to win the 7 other primaries that day, including the big one -- California.

I just don't see how Edwards can win, barring some major new gaffe or scandal from Kerry.

how can Kerry win? His own democratic supporters aren't even very passionate about him. Just look at this board, sure there are people who like him, even like him a lot, but how many of them are inspired by him, or passionate about him? If it's Kerry vs Bush, it'll just be Gore vs Bush, a close race and who knows what will happen. Democrats, independents, and even some moderate or *real* conservatives like Edwards. Basically, Edwards can win for the same reason Kerry can't, broad appeal.

He's run like a champ through the entire primary season so far. No other candidate has come close to matching his appeal in every state he's won. That's because he reflects the values and attributes that most mainstream Democrats want in a President. There is no one better prepared to be President...hell, he could move in tomorrow and immediately be more competent than the loser that occupys the WH now.

Kerry vs. Bush is the best match-up for us. Bush loses on the national security/leadership issue, period. I doubt if he he bothers to even show up to debate. I guess that leaves the economy for Bush to run on.

Hey, I think John Edwards is a very good candidate and I have no issues with his campaign....I just don't see how one can believe that Edwards can possibly run stronger than Kerry against the Republicans. The facts don't support it.

before they 'take off'. Carter's luck changed with WI in 1976. In 1992, Clinton was just catching fire.

IFF, last night in WI was indeed a turning point for Edwards, and IF the DNC will allow the process to run its course without interferring, Edwards could indeed begin winning primaries left and right now.

Those are big IFs, especially the second one. But I have some hope, now.

Kerry has won more southern states than Edwards, and after Super Tuesday it will be all over. The only reason he did well in Wisconsin, was because repugs were trying to derail Kerry.

15. Wisconsin was the tipping point!

Edwards will do extremely well on Super Tuesday, and the next week will follow up on Southern Tuesday.

Just look at the numbers, Kerry mathematically cannot win the nomination even after Super Tuesday. There's still many votes to be cast and Edwards is not quitting.

Follow that up with the Southern Tuesday in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida. Kerry could be reeling by then. The next week the campaign moves into the single state calander, with usually no more than a single state primary taking place. The 16th will be Illinois, where Edwards' message will do VERY well.

There are also a number of delegates that are outstanding because of the departure of Clark, and Dean.
