but he isn't withdrawing his name from ballots, nor releasing the delegates (yet).

5. The fact that he is no longer campaigning

is a strong clue. I know this was posted as a response to the still ardent followers of Dean that won't believe he is out of the race, time to wake up and smell the coffee. Dean ain't gonna be the nominee or president. Even though he remains on ballots, the rest of the primaries he will be competing with Kucinich and Sharpton for last place.

In a nutshell, Howard Dean has now become the juiciest fruit for both Kerry and Edwards to chomp on, and most might agree that Edwards has the inside track -- at least in terms of "comradeship" with Dean.

Yet Dean faces what might be a burdensome debt that he will have trouble paying off -- and Edwards, although not a poor man himself, will not be able to offer the Dean Camp the same blank check to pay off these arrears as might Kerry and family.

Certainly Dean must also be capable to deliver his delegates. Just because he now holds 200 delegates in his pocket does not mean, in all cases, that he can instruct them to join the Edwards or Kerry camp.

Every cloud has a silver lining, and in Dean's case the silver lining includes this bargaining chip which assures him at least a high level cabinet appointment, cleared-up debts, and extra cash to continue what most think will be a new and laudable movement to combat outrageous neo-conservatism bent on class warfare in America -- even as they decry it.

I'm surprised not to see these types of analyses in today's leading newspapers.

But trust me - tomorrow morning you will.

Have you even read John Kerry's ideas on alternative energy? He wants to launch a quest for US energy independence similar to our quest to be first on the moon in the 60's. That doesn't sound like someone who is into perpetual oil wars.
