"STAND UP AND BE COUNTED" ALL-DU POLL, NON-ANONYMOUS
Ok I'm starting over here, so if you posted yours before, please do so again in this thread. This time only people who choose to participate will be included.

Which candidate are you either supporting or leaning toward as of right now?

If you change your mind later, just post again further down in the thread.

Only people who post will be included in the poll. Just like only people who vote in the many anonymous polls on DU are counted. Just like only people who actually send in their ballot or go to their polling place have their vote counted in real life.

If there is anyone who still has issues with this, please post those issues in the following thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=2545358&mesg_id=2545358

or start your own thread and link to it, so as not to cause this one to be locked or removed... for the sake of those who DO wish to take part in this poll. They should be given the opportunity.

Mine: First choice Edwards, Close second Biden.

66. 60 votes in, numbers so far:
Edited on Sun Dec-30-07 04:40 AM by FlyingSquirrel
DU Current Totals:

First choice:

Edwards 31% - 18 votes
Kucinich 22% - 13 votes
Biden 17% - 10 votes
Clinton 16% - 9 votes
Obama 12% - 7 votes
Gore 2% - 1 vote

Second choice:

Biden 41% - 13 votes
Edwards 31% - 10 votes
Obama 13% - 4 votes
Dodd 6% - 2 votes
Clinton 3% - 1 vote
Kucinich 3% - 1 vote
Richardson 3% - 1 vote

Overall popularity: (including all choices listed and "ties")

Edwards 31% - 31 total votes
Biden 27% - 27 total votes
Kucinich 16% - 16 total votes
Obama 13% - 13 total votes
Clinton 10% - 10 total votes
Gravel 1% - 1 total vote
Richardson 1% - 1 total vote
Gore 1% - 1 total vote

Note: "Ties" for first or second choice were not included in first and second choice
percentages, but WERE included in overall popularity. (Maybe next time I'll count them each as 1/2 vote?)

We're just getting started… need a much bigger sample for results to have more validity!

:bounce:

P.S. nathanhale and Jennifer C - you came in just after I finished totalling numbers & percentages, so I'll include your votes (and everyone after them) in next update.

79. 1. It Depends. 2. Kucinich.
It depends on what's going on by the time Maryland gets to vote. If there's a real race between two candidates, I'd vote for one of them, especially if one of them is a candidate I strongly do not want to see get the nomination. (There's only one of those.) If it's a done deal by then, I'll probably vote for Kucinich.

In a general election, I'll also be confident that Obama and Edwards could beat the Republicans, too, but Kucinich and Clinton are my first two choices of who I'd prefer to see in the WH.

100. Those two have been my first two choices throughout the primaries
Most times, I'm caught up so much in defending the Clintons from the lies and innuendo spewn about them here, so some people think that Hillary has been my first and only choice all along. Kucinich has always been my heartfelt first choice and I've documented that in several other threads quite some time ago.

I think I know what you mean about how my two choices go against "common wisdom" here. The way I look at it, I don't limit myself to having one narrow set of values when it comes to picking the candidates I like the most. There are parts of me that love the best things that the most progressive candidates, like Dennis Kucinich, have to offer, and there are parts of me that loves what Hillary has to offer. Sometimes, people on DU are somehow under the illusion that if you like someone who's moderate, you can't possibly like someone who's leftist. That is narrow minded and just plain wrong. My umbrella is large enough to consider the best combinations of Democratic values out there, not just one set. :)

:hi:

People being able to correct misconceptions that others have of them (regarding their choice of candidate). It's kinda nice - hope it spreads a bit of calm in an otherwise very antagonistic & quarrelsome place!

191. Anybody but Hillary ~~ that is my first choice
I don't like her and I have never liked her and this started long before she ran for POTUS. I wish to hell she was not running because I strongly believe that she will lead to one of the POS Pubbies being elected as POTUS in November if, gawd forbid, she is our nominee.

I just don't trust her and she is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too conservative and waaaaaaaaay too hawkish and corporate loving for me. She comes across as insincere, uncaring and phony.

I like Obama, but I am not enthusiastic and I like Edwards but his support of the IWR is a real problem for me even tho now he says he made a mistake.

I wish to hell Wesley Clark or Al Gore would have run. I like Dennis Kucinich's policy stances best of all of the candidates but he has less than -0- chance of winning the nomination.

<sigh>

193. My dream was Gore.
But since my telepathic-mind-vibe-voodoo-ray didn't seem to work on him....

I've been waffling a LOT between Edwards and Richardson, but since tomorrow's the big day, I THINK I've decided on Edwards.

So for me it comes down to..

Gore - if I could have him
Edwards
Richardson
Biden

223. I would be supporting Edwards if I were an American
I think Edwards is both the most progressive of the Big Three, and probably the most likely to win an election.

I don't know if that counts, though, because I'm not actually going to vote for him due to not living in America.
